Default Calendars

Rob,

"Really" like the calendars you posted. Looks like you have quite a few. Also, I think earlier in the thread you posted others. Wish the O's would have done more (maybe they did and I don't know about them). Makes for nice displays in my opinion especially when it lists the year.

Thanx Mark and Mike (yankee) for the kind words.

The hard thing is to get as much of one's stuff out there without it just being too cluttered.

I stink at that.

My wife has been offering her assistance.

I was given this...always nice!

This shows the graphics work done to produce a couple of Giants themed Budweiser ads. In both cases, there are graphics on board, overlaid with refinements on "mylar" and more refinements on a vellum sheet.

Rob, your Giants pieces are always a treat to look at.

Mark same with your O's pieces (and that's hard for this Yankees fan to admit )

I wish I could find pieces like that for the Yankees. Yankees pieces go for a lot of money here. I have patience and will continue the hunt.

What's everyone thoughts on vintage magazine pages with ads? I have seen collectors carefully remove the pages and frame them up and have been thinking about rummaging through flea markets on the hunt for such ads.

Something about that Hat in the Sweet Caporal Poster looks very X-rated to me. Early form of subliminal advertising?

Regardless, she looks very pleased to be wearing it.

Default owned 2 of the sweet cap majorette

sold both because I REALLY began to dislike the one I had despite original framing. The second I bought not to punish myself but for resale.

poster looks very nice - I didn't see it in the "before" mode however. Could you post some info about the conservator? At Bill Mastro's suggestion some time in the early 90's I sent Chicago Graphic Restoration company a few things and they did a great job. At this time I am looking for someone else so would appreciate the "share"....

edited to add:

I actually found him once before but he neglected to get back to me. I assume by your comments you are more than happy with the work. Would I view the pricing as competitive? CGC was quite pricey. TX in advance for your reply.

Default Restoration

“Another” great advertising piece. Now let’s see the room with all these great items displayed!

I mentioned a piece I had, I think earlier in the thread, that I guess is some type of cloth/canvas that has water marks from being outside. Is that something they do or is it restoring paper pieces? Think it just needs to be cleaned, but I don’t want to mess it up since it’s not really that bad

That Pinch Hit Tobacco poster is top notch!! I remember seeing one a couple of years ago that I keep kicking myself for not bidding on on eBay.

I have never seen one of those Brooks banners, and it is incredible! How big is it? The top portion actually looks very similar to one a dealer has had at the National the past couple of years.

Default Brooks Robinson banner

It’s rather large and I’m not at home to measure, but an estimate would be about 3’x5’ or something in that range. I believe the one at the National is one of these banners that at some point in time the bottom portion was cut off or possibly had too much damage to the piece. I have seen one other Brooks banner, which I think was the same as mine, since I have been collecting. It likely corresponds to the other Crown advertising piece I pictured earlier in the thread (13). I know there’s a pump display with Unitas pictured as well during the same time frame; unsure if a banner was ever produced.

Hi Henry. I'm glad you liked the work I did for Michael. I'm not sure how I dropped the ball and didn't get back to you. I apologize. I do know that I'm a much better value than the other company you mentioned. Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. I'd love to talk to you. Thanks

Hi Derek,

I was a tad off on the size. I got the banner out last night to take some pictures and it’s around 3 1/2’ x 7’ so a bit larger then I estimated.

Thanks guys!! I went back up and posted a before picture of the sign. What a difference
And yes this sign was on ebay a few years ago and was posted by someone who had taken a framed picture apart and discovered this behind it. Unfortunately to get it there someone had to trim the top and right borders for it to fit. At least on the positive side the sign was found and saved and now part of my collection

Great sign Michael. Victor was the official supplier of balls and bats to the Federal league in 1914 and 15.

Thanks matty39 for the info. I was not aware of that. It just seems to me that Victor equipment is rather difficult to find.
