Default Bidding starts Tuesday

Catalogs will begin arriving today and continue into next week depending on your location.

The auction is scheduled to open Tuesday, but we will make every effort to have it online and open for bidding earlier if we're able to do so (there's a lot of fine tuning that goes into making sure the auction goes off without a hitch).

We encourage anyone who receives the catalog before the auction opens to browse through it, bookmark (the old fashioned way) some of your favorite lots, and enjoy that new catalog smell we hear so much about!

This is also a good reminder to anyone who has never placed a bid with us but is interested in receiving a catalog--there's still time to request one on our website: http://www.robertedwardauctions.com/contact/index.html

If you don't have a bidding account but you're interested in participating in the auction, you can register to bid here: https://bid.robertedwardauctions.com/users/useradd.asp

If you're an established bidder but you forget your login credentials, you can retrieve your bidder number and/or password here: http://bid.robertedwardauctions.com/login.aspx

We're looking forward to another great auction, and we're happy that so many of you are too!

I am hoping to see mine making its way up the driveway here shortly. I am so looking forward to this. One of my favorite things during the year.

Come on, post office. Move it!

Just got mine. Really great stuff. Talk about sensory overload. Wanted to flip to right to the T206's, but there is so much else. And then the T206 back choices, scraps, etc...

Just got mine in NY. At least in my copy, printing pretty dull, borders not white, wonder if it's just this run or what. Yours?

Received mine yesterday, a great gesture by REA. Printing of the pictures is very dark however, very difficult to ascertain whether the colors on the cards are vibrant or not. Anyone else have this impression?

I see that they are selling a MURR'Y Old Mill. They're calling it the only one with an Old Mill back, despite a similar MURR'Y Old Mill that just sold last week in the Goodwin auction.

And for anyone keeping score, I own one as well. So there are at least three.

Appears to be the example that was sold on eBay back in April.

Still curious if others (beyond one so far) feel the quality of images throughout catalog is very "muddy," nothing popping and dull quality. Or just me and a few others.

Okay, looks like may be national issue of too-murky color and clarity in the catalog photos. I know the Web is most important but I wonder if the catalog can dim excitement for certain cards.

I got my catalog on Monday, and I have to agree with you, Greg. The pictures do appear darker. I took out the other three REA catalogs I have, and looked through them. It looks like this newest catalog is the only one with this issue.

Whenever I bid on a lot, or lots, I look them over online first. But the catalog is typically my first look at what's being offered, and picture clarity there is important.

It's not bad. The catalog is still beautiful. I just wish the pictures were a little more..brilliant.

Default REA catalog

Hi Everyone,

We've been monitoring the feedback regarding the catalog images so that we can discuss it in detail with our printer. Our last four auctions have been produced using the same photography and scanning equipment with the catalog made by the same printer, so it's perplexing to us how some of the images might be of a lesser quality in print, especially when all the images appear crisp, bright, and accurate online. We also received proof sheets before the final catalog print run, which we reviewed for colors and were satisfied that they were up to the same high standards of all our previous catalogs. A typical REA catalog print run involves millions of pages (literally 4-8 million pages of catalog print depending on spring or fall) that are printed over many days, so it is possible that some batches were adversely affected. We're not printers though, so we'll take this information to our printer and find out why this may have happened. We appreciate feedback in all instances and thank everyone for being so interested in and involved with our auctions. This auction is off to an incredible start, and we're extremely excited to see what the next few weeks have in store. Thank you again!

Brian Dwyer
Robert Edward Auctions

Also, Boomer, I PMed you earlier this morning, but in case you didn't get it, please e-mail me or call 908-226-9900.
