Default Show your Baseball Rings & Things...

Let's see your Sports related rings, bracelets, necklaces, lapel pins, sunglasses (ALL of them Greg/sayhey24), keychains, money clips, lighters, pocket knives, or anything else you think fits in. Be it made out of tin, plastic, steel, gold, silver, or whatever... let's see what you got!

I'll start it off with this 1935 Goudey Baseball Premium Ring. Now, we're all familiar with the 1934 Goudey/Lou Gehrig Premiums, but this was the first '35 that I've ever seen. I won it on ebay several months ago and bought it without even knowing its origin.

A few months later I lucked out while looking at a 1935 Goudey wrapper, and there it was, as if it smacked me right in the nose! MY RING!

At 8 cents each, those postcards were kind of pricey for the times.

Interesting that it appears that the team, not the player, paid for them.

I had a number of chances to talk to George Brace at Wrigley Field in the early 80's (Who I believe was Burke's assistant and took over his business) and I asked him once what he does with all the pictures. He said the majority of his business comes from players buying photos from him to send to fans and family. He once told me they used to sell postcards but by the 80's it was mostly photographs.

The sad thing is I saw this man every day and thought of him as a kindly old guy who took player photos. He did speak a few times of sitting on the bench between Ruth and Gehrig when he was younger which I thought was really cool, but if only I had known then what I know now I would have paid more attention to him and wrote down his stories!!

Now that's the kind of things I'm talking about! Al. I just love those centennial fobs. One of Baseball's best designs. Sweet YooHoo lighter Doc and those gumball charms are wonderful mementos of the 50's & 60's. And Greg... more cool stuff. I just know that you're holding back all kinds of great stuff!

Here are some more of my favorite things from my collection...

The little globes on the lower left and right were prizes given to the teams in the 1955 Global World Series in Milwaukee. These are the only ones I've ever seen. I have a picture from one of the Semi-Pro guides that shows them presenting them to the Boeing Bomber's manager. I got these from Daryl Spencer who played in the tournament and was the MVP. The globe on the left opens up and is a clock. The globe on the right is a music box.

Default 2004 St. Louis Cardinals National League Championship Ring.

In the spirit of the World Series, and the fact that IMO this is one of the nicest rings I have ever seen, here is a 2004 Cards W.S. ring in our current auction.
