Default Topps 1959

Just recently picked up this 1959 dated paper insert. Should it be included with the 59 Elect Your Favorite Rookie and Felt Pennant inserts in the 59 Topps baseball checklist....along with the 1959 dated Lucky Penny insert ? Or maybe it was a football insert ?

59 Lucky Pennant insert , as opposed to 57

Because of the rip in it being like the All-Star Rookie Ballots, my guess is that it was a point of purchase tear-off pad that this came on. It may not be related to sports cards at all, just Bazooka Joe gum with the comic wrappers.

The one in that blog posting also has a tear midway up the left border. I still doubt it was pack-pulled.

The rip is part of the production process and occurred when the insert was cut , folded if necessary and inserted before wrapping the pack (or becoming the wrapper itself). Certain Topps wrappers (for their gum and tattoo sets) have the rip from 1938 well into the 1970's and most paper inserts have the rip as well. It's basically a sign the item in question came from a pack.

Obviously you've got a lot more experience and have been doing this longer, but I'm not sure your contention about the rips applies to this card sized item.
So you're saying that because Topps wrappers (either by themselves or around pieces of gum) have a similar rip, that these must have been pack inserted?
I don't see the cause/effect in play.

These are not wrappers and do not appear to be folded. There is also no mention of Topps or TCG on the item, just Bazooka. I would agree that it's a sign it came from the same production line, but doesn't imply pack inserted. Were the ballots also pack-inserted? I was under the impression they were at the point of sale.

Are there any pack breakers of 1959 Topps that have pulled one from a pack?

I have a copy of the First Annual Rookie All Star Team Awards banquet program. It mentions that the Elect your Favorite Rookie ballot was both distributed in packs with cards and through certain groups like the Boy Scouts, YMCA, Boy's Clubs of America, and the Children's Aid Society. But the pictures of the ballots distributed through groups are not the same as the pack inserts I posted above. Both versions are pictured in the program

No mention in the program of the item we are discussing or the Felt Pennant insert

Edited to add that I have 4 unopened 59 packs but do not intend to open any of them to look for pack inserts

Thing is all my unfolded/unissued wrappers/tattoos and the like don't have the rip and all my issued ones do.

I would love to see a pack pull of these type of inserts for sure.

1959 Topps Blony/Bazooka Pennant offer showing 15-inch pennants for Milwaukee Braves, Baltimore Orioles, and Philadelphia Phillies. Seems to have the same tear in the side and made of the same glossy paper as these other inserts/tear off sheets.
