Default Is the winner known? (T215 Pirate Cigarettes set)

I'm sure that the winning bidders of lots like these often remain anonymous, but do we know who won this auction back in 2007?

http://www.legendaryauctions.com/Lot...px?lotid=75301

Thanks,
Steve

Default why

Unless you are at a phone auction then the people bidding at a live auction are usually known, though there are people who bid on behalf of others. The winner is a good hobby friend and prefers to stay a bit low key. So the answer to your question is, yes.

I was present when Mastro had their live auction in which the Pirates set was sold. In keeping with the spirit of respecting the winner's anonymnity I will just say that I have never witnessed a fellow so possessed of coolness as he bid on the lot. He looked like he was just ordering a refill on his drink, not spending nearly a million dollars on baseball cards.

It would be pretty unique to own such a large set in which pretty much every card is the only example known. I wonder if the Owner was ever able to add the 97th card to the set? Fascinating set.

Ok, I admit it, it wasn't me that won that lot.

Soooo... if that's a 97 card set and the lot had 96 cards then that means someone has something someone else would really like to have to "complete" the set.

For something like this I would guess the odds that another uncataloged card (for this set) is out there somewhere.

Okay, I admit that the wording of my question invited strictly literal responses...

I should have added -- if this person is known, then who is it? I don't know a lot of people in this hobby personally, but I was hoping to obtain scans of a couple specific cards in the set. (I realize that some collectors would be willing to do this and others wouldn't...but it never hurts to ask.)

So if anybody could help me contact this person or give me a name, I'd appreciate it.

Have a good one,
Steve

Steve,
If that person really wishes to remain anonymous, it would make more sense to offer up your email address, and then maybe someone who knows the winner can pass on that information to them. Or at least act as the middle man with the scans, so that said winner can still remain anonymous.

I think there are at least 50 people here who know who he is.

If he wanted to remain unknown (I don't know how to spell that other word that begins with an "a") he would have bid by phone and not in in plain sight, with Leon egging him on, in front of of bunch of us mopes.

Be that as it may I too will respect his unknownness though he does troll here from time to time and might just chime in.

Hi Mr.

Let the owner know that I will cut his or her grass for the rest of my life for the Eddie Collins card!
I will also toss in a monthly car was, if that will finish the deal.

Thanks Bruce! Would love to see any others from this lot, seems scans are as scarce as the type.
