I agree Peter. Don't know why I said Gold....it is orange. For those that don't know, the belief is that there was probably 1 sheet of orange cards produced, as we have seen several examples of orange but never 2 of the same player.

Here's two of Evers, would like to pick up the rest eventually. It's also one of my favorite cards of Evers and the first set I would try to complete if I were a set collector.

I would have to look but I think I sold this or traded it. Pretty sure I don't have it in my collection anymore.

I agree Mike, the e94 set would be very cool set to put together. I think I will start and try and get one of every color along the way.

The image quality and colors of the set is amazing. Speaker's is my personal favorite. I like to imagine that it is him talking smack to a pitcher before he smacks one of his 792 doubles. Thanks for sharing Leon.

This, still, might be my absolute, favorite card in my collection. To my knowledge, a second "Silverback" has never been found.

Lol, I'm here One of these days I'll put ém on line', just too lazy. I got to 167 in the master set (180)and hit a wall. There hasn't been a single card on ebay or in any auction that I have needed in the last year and a half, that's why I've been busy working on the T210 set. I do see the red Wagner and violet Lajoie shown above and they are two I need :-(
Leon is absolutely right that there have been no more than one single example of a player with the orange variation known to exist. Not all of the players have been found yet with the orange background. I have 4 of the oranges, no Hall of Famers. To my knowledge there has never been a Dougherty, Wagner, Young, Murray, Lajoie, Lake, Doolan, or Chance found to exist. I may have missed one or two others. If anyone has one of the above orangies or has seen one, please post a scan if possible or at least let us know.

Bob & Leon,
I saw these some time ago(not mine unfortunately), but remembered previous posts about there being only 1 orange of each player. But, here there are 2 Cobb's. Just thought it was interesting.

Nice Catch Pete. Not sure what to make of it. Could there possibly have been 2 Cobbs on the sheet, or more than 1 sheet? Since we haven't (yet) seen other players more than once, who knows. Thanks for showing them. Learn something new every day.

Also, I wonder if anyone has seen that 7 and that 8 in a room together. ??

Unless it was a good trim job? I am not saying it is but that ran through my mind.... and the 7 has a few mighty big borders....

I saw the blotch and took that into account too. It was just a thought I had...I am not saying anything definitive....

Here's a bit more on the orange E94s (although I don't know what to make of the two orange Cobbs', I am still mulling that over) : originally the orange E94s came out of a collection from Brian Daniels. Several years ago Brian swore to me that he had "orange" E94s and I kept writing him and telling him that was impossible. that the E94s only existed in dark green, olive green, red, gold, blue and violet. I told him he must have them confused with the E98 series cards which are blue, red, green and orange. Finally he sent me a scan of an orange Devore and I was floored. I purchased that card from him through a 3rd party and he subsequently sent me a scan showing an E98 orange Cobb, Speaker, and a few others. He had over half of the set in orange. All the cards had been graded by PSA. If I am not mistaken, the PSA 7 Cobb pictured by Pete is the same Cobb. The other one (the 8 confuses me).
Now here is where things get tricky: Daniels didn't have all the players in orange backgrounds. He did not have the Crawford and Devlin for example. The Crawford card (pictured above) is owned by leon and is in an SGC holder. The Devlin I own, and which was a generous gift to me from Alan Sasoon, is also in an SGC holder. Both came from the Lionel Carter collection. This means that they did not come from Daniels. Apparently the one orange sheet which was printed, either accidentally or as a test baloon to see how the color orange looked, could still be the only orange ever printed. This would explain why there is only one orange background card of each E94 player in existence.
I can't explain the Cobb unless it was double printed on the sheet. It could be the same card, cleaned up and resubmiited, but more likely it was a double print on the sheet due to the popularity of Cobb. This would beg the question where are the rest of the oranges which were double printed? I guess we will never know.
P.S. All the oranges Daniels had were, to the best of my fading memory, all PSA 5s or better....
