Default Let's See Some Non-baseball Scraps with Baseball Overprints

For post #500 I wanted to make a request that I haven't seen before. People frequently post baseball cards that have non-baseball overprints (the Lash's Bitters cards and a military general series immediately come to mind) and baseball cards with baseball overprints.

Does anyone out there have an example of non-baseball cards that have test runs for baseball cards printed on them? For example, a Flags of the World card that is finished, or nearly finished, with for example a Piedmont overprint or the green layer from the green T206 Cobb, printed hastily over the back?

If you have one of these, please share. Thanks!

Default quite an exotic request

for a 500th, first, or last post! While I have seen the two cards you mention right here on the only place you're likely to see such anomalies - I fear you will be a bit disappointed by the absence of posts showing other baseball/non-sport pairings. Not to say others might not exist - but unlikely a query would be the precipitating prompt to unearth a scan of such a gem - rather they would have been posted before.
While the scrap and frankenprinting of primarily theT206 series is a more recent dalliance within the hobby - a fair number of NS guys appreciate these kinds of examples as they give a glimpse into the process and production - pieces of a puzzle. The difference is the NS guys won't pay much for an example :-).
In any event - I have been interested in cards of all kinds for 20 years. I like to think I keep an eye out for that kind of thing - at least over the past 12-15 years. I see a few upside down backs, plenty of centering issues, missing print, and even a card or two with incorrect back/front combinations. Just can't say I've seen anything like you're looking for - but I anxiously await seeing such a post should one be made.

Not prewar, but there are some modern scraps with combined printing.

79 baseball with 78 baseball backs.
78 baseball with mork and mindy sticker fronts on the back
78 baseball backs inside bazooka boxes
Black hole card backs inside bazooka boxes.

They must have had a LOT of leftover unfinished 1978 sheets!

Thanks for the feedback guys, I knew this was a tall order. Still, I am a little surprised that nobody knows of a single example, I thought perhaps Ted Z would have one or have some notes on one.

If you want some non-sports examples, Magic cards in the 90s had a problem where the Magic card front was backed with a Wyvern card game back during error printings in 1994.
Two years later the printer forgot to clean their presses and some Magic cards were printed with part of a Charlie Brown comic strip on them. ;-)

Default Bryan....

sorry you haven't gotten a lot of responses on this.....scrap is very rare , that's prob why ..... it is technically "garbage" and most cases discarded.....

we now pay thousands for them....how ironic
