On this date in 1939 Eddie Collins, George Sisler, and Wee Willie Keeler were elected to the Hall of Fame. If you have a card please show them. My apologizes to those who would rather talk politics.

Chris -

What a great card!

Each time I see it, I am reminded that the T206 Collins is one of the nicest cards in the set -
if not the nicest.

As many of you know, Ty Cobb wasn't in this photo.
He stated he was running late. At the time he had
a dislike towards Babe Ruth and didn't want to be
photographed with the Bambino.

Actually, Erik, Cobb deliberately showed up late to the ceremony to avoid being photographed with Commisioner Landis. Cobb despised Landis due his belief that Landis did not give him a fair shake in the investigation at the end of Cobb's career of allegations that he and Tris Speaker had thrown a game. In the end, Landis didn't get into the picture anyway so Cobb's ruse was for naught.

I'd rather discuss baseball and baseball cards than criminals . . . er--I mean politics.

Man, the Hall of Fame should be for only the very best players -- why did they let in all these mediocrities? happy.gif
