Default 1910 Jack Coombs Philadelphia A's Jersey

I am surprised there is no talk on the forum on the 1910 Jack Coombs Philadelphia A's Jersey in the Saco River Auction---Quite a piece and in beautiful condition---My guess is that its a $8-10,000 price range---any thoughts out there----thanks, Don

My only thought is that anyone remotely interested in bidding would prefer to discuss its attributes after the hammer goes down.

I think you're being way too conservative on that estimate. I wouldn't be surprised if the bidding went past $50,000 and kept going. Coombs went 31 - 9 with 13 shutouts in that jersey.

As long as a reputable authenticator doesn't kill that jersey, it will go high.

Well if we're going to split hairs........if the jersey is real, Coombs had to have won some of those 31 wins while wearing that jersey.

Is that better?

Jersey was real. No way to date the jersey to his best year. Could have come from any number of years.

$29K included the VIG... Right? They said on phone that the winning bid was $25,000 before the buyers premium. The bidding started at $15K.

Anyone here get it???

Mark yes the jersey went for $25k---the buyers premium is 15% but if u pay by credit card, it is %18----plus 5% sales tax if you dont have a tax exempt certificate----so with the shipping plus insurance---my guess is around 29K---it went out of state---I think to Texas----Don

I had a 1913-17 SPALDING Jack Coombs bat years ago...nice bat, when i was collecting W.S. Stars.... he was a stud peak years pitcher, totally underrated, and lost to history. Did some great coaching the rest of his life in the Northeast.
