Default Show your photo pickups from Heritage and Yee

Anyone pick anything up? There were some very strong prices in the Heritage Photo auction as well as hyee_auctions.

I picked up this Burke used for HOF plaque.

I'm currently working with over 500 1930's glass plate negatives from The Sun archives, which is a now defunct NYC newspaper. Imagine my surprise when over 50 original prints from The Sun archives popped up in the Yee auction.

At least four of the original photos being offered by Yee matched glass negatives I've got and I was fortunate enough to grab two of them. Will post pics later on.

What's going on in that bottom photo? You'd think someone just scored and it's a celebration at home plate, but then you see #3 isn't a fellow Yankee and a new probability emerges…perhaps a scuffle???

Edited to add: I just realized that #3 is indeed a Yankee, George Selkirk. It's weird how the number continued to be worn by other players, uninterrupted, until it was retired after the Babe died in 1948.

Some of the prices were insane but thats the way it goes. Type 1 and Type 2 sales are gaining alot more popularity and the prices are reflecting that

I was going for the nicer Gehrig (there were two of the same photo in the auction) where he was twisting himself into the ground on a follow through swing.

Default My pick up

Here is my pick up. This was used in the 1885 Harpers Weekly but I don't know what what week as I have only seen it cut out.

Getty Images has info on the photographer and says 1/1/1885 but I don't think thats right since some of the guys in the photo weren't on the team yet.

Brad, I believe the Harper's image is from October 17, 1885 issue.

Thanks! I appreciate the info. I would love to track an original down but if I can't a photo copy would be good to have too.

Edited: To say I found an original from the Harpers Weekly to go with the cabinet card.

Great photo! Now I know who outbid me. I was just worried it was too small. But great image for sure.

Default Hyee_auctions pickup-1917 white sox champs -all 8 men out on the team

I just received. It is amazing. Look at those jokers in the front..4 of the 8. The only WS that motley crew won. What a fortunate gem addition.
