Default Paul Thompson / Charles Conlon photo back stamp

Last week I came across an 8x10 photo with a Conlon back stamp and his handwriting. Along with that photo was another photo with the SAME image, in a smaller size, with a Paul Thompson back stamp. First time I have encountered this.

Any ideas as to how/why this could be the case?

Won't have access to them until tomorrow but the image is of Rube Wadell throwing, same image from his T206 card.

Also potentially helpful would be if you have some idea when each was acquired/archived.

Polite corrections for unidentified and misidentified photos appreciated. Rude corrections also appreciated, but less so.

All I know really is that they were acquired by my father in the early 70's from The Ring archives and they've been sitting in a file cabinet ever since.
