Default Scam Artist??? (1921 Herpolsheimer Cobb)

Posted By: fkw

OK, first off I bid and was runner up on a card that I thought was supposed to be a one of a kind. I didnt have time before, but now I did some research.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=250199510830

As most of you know the 1921 Herpolsheimer cards were just discovered in Oct. 2004. There were 68 total cards in discovery and not a single duplicate. Today this auction above ended and it would have been the first player known that had more than one card known. There is a Cobb thats not trimmed (originally sold 10/2004 for $1526) and now after looking at this sellers prior auctions I see he deal alot in fake cards.

My question, whoever owns the full size Herpolsheimer Cobb card that sold back in Oct. 2004, can you please check the back and see if the pencil written "$5" on back matches this trimmed card exactly. Is it a fake that was copied from the authentic card??

My main reason for asking is because he seems to have sold alot of fakes in the past, but now there is another card I would like to bid on listed right now, and Im wondering if it is a fake made from a stolen scan or something.

Thanks in advance for any info on the Herpolsheimer Cobb (full size).

Frank

The more I dig, the more garbage I see. Fake E145-2 cards, Fake T206 cards, etc. tons of fake garbage!

This seller is trash!

But I would still like to know if there really is 2 of the 1921 Herpolsheimer Cobbs?????

Absolutely fake. I sold the PSA card during the early part of last year (06). There was only one card in the original discovery.

Thanks Jeff and Paul

So I guess everyone should be careful of the J=K Lajoie being offered by the same seller.
