Default Help identifying cards? Photos? Premiums?

Posted By: Rob Fouch

Looking for help identifying these. I guess Grimm's prewar and qualifies.
I see in Wikipedia Stanky played for the Cubs in 1943-44, so it's on the edge of pre-war. Hope that's OK.

Stanky measures 6 inches by 8 1/2 inches, Grimm's a little bit bigger but not much (slightly narrow, a bit taller). Both have blank backs. Not cardboard. It's like thin paper. Are they premiums of some sort? I don't know a lot about those sort of things. Any help would be appreciated. and if you have an idea on value, that would be appreciated, too. Thanks. Rob

Cubs Team Issues

Stanky is a 1944 Cubs Picture Pack NRMT $12

Grimm is a 1936 Cubs Picture Pack NRMT $12

These were made for many years and there are a few different types.

I like the 1932 and 1933 ones...

Hi Bob,
The Stanky looks to me like it came from what they call a team issued picture pack. He was probably with about 20 -25 other players. They were on paper that is a little heavier and tends to be a little tan. The Grimm looks more like a real photo picture. My guess would be a range of 5-10 dollars each.

Your Stanky is from the 1944 Cubs picture packs that were sold at Wrigley and worth about $15...
I'm guessing Grimm from the '32 Picture pack if a bit larger. The '33 set not quite as big. Those were the only 2 years with white autograph's. Also about $15.

FK--I'm pretty sure the '36 set was "action only" shots and no portraits..
