Default The Travels of "Large Ass" Herzog (photo log)

The Great Trade Chain continues. Herzog was sent in the mail today to the first trade partner.

Original Thread: "Feelin' The T206 Magic"
Link to the Rules: "Chain Trade..."

Keep a lookout for your next chance to get in the game. Here we are in front of the Iowa State Capitol Building (photo by my 9-year-old daughter).

Default Buckys first travelogue

OK, I am the lucky first trader of the great BIG ASS bucky. The pictures will explain his adventure thus far:

2011-04-21_17-24-56_44.jpg

Bucky arrived this Easter weekend and was treated to a rousing welcome by Yo Gabba Gabba (Don't ask)

2011-04-21_17-47-05_735.jpg

Bucky's trip started off hairy as Baby Sean tried to immediatly eat him

2011-04-23_10-57-36_290.jpg

Bucky then participated in an Easter egg hunt with my son maxwell (Bucky got a laffy taffy and a dragon sticker)

2011-04-23_14-48-02_310.jpg
Then it was on to Lincolns tomb (I wonder how big Bucky's tomb is?)

2011-04-23_14-49-05_255.jpg
Bucky rubbed Honest Abe's nose for good luck (i didn't as its a breeding ground for disease)

Default Thank you for this fun and entertaining thread!

Hello my friends,
I just wanted to express my happiness over this fun thread!
I look forward to spending my days trying to feel better by participating in our hobby via this wonderful site. I am completely into this thread!
I look forward to seeing all the fun places and things that Buck Herzog is/will be doing! My grand-daughter (as well as the rest of the family) loved seeing the Easter egg hunt and the welcome party with those figures that my lil' grand-daughter quickly told me what and who they were!

PLEASE keep this thread going! I, for one, am very into this fun thread!

You have really hit a winner with this thread!

Thanks to all,

Bill Hedin

The Herzog is my favorite card in the T206 set and I would be more than happy to give the "Large Ass" example a tour of the Virginia state capitol.

awesome, glad your enjoying it Bill! Bucky is on the way to Todd and then Im pretty sure Josh is bringing old bucky to Sri Lank which will officially make this the farthest traveled t206 EVER! The goal is get Bucky into orbit after that!
Also, Don't forget as George mentioned, there is a cool little book that comes with it for you to put in your information to be saved for posterity!

This is going to be on ESPN someday...I can just feel it..., and we're going to be the guys pointing at the TV exclaiming "I know about that! I know about that! I knew about it years ago! Yea, it's on this thread called Net54, see --- it started as......." --- and right at "It started as...", the person we're talking to will checkout, only to return once we're done explaining. This person may, or may not be, our wife (should we be so blessed to have one).

Hey Erick,

Buck is a local Maryland guy. If you don't make it to Camden Yards, do you think he would like to take a trip around his old town, B'more? He's part of the Maryland Athletics Hall of Fame, I don't recall if he has anything in the Sports Legend Museum at the Yard. Also I am headed out to the Eastern Shore next week and would be willing to take him by Ridgely when he grew up and spent his later years, too. Might even be able to get the guys at the Eastern Shore Baseball Foundation over in Salisbury to open up for a visit, before he hits the road again for his next destination.

Shoot me a PM and let's see if we can work out the details.

Marty

You are a child of the universe,

I sent an email to Brad again yesterday to see where Large Ass is. I will see if we can coordinate him to be at our table again this year at the National. He was last year and was quite well received. He even got a complimentary admission pass each day, so he's a cheap date too. (that sounded kind of weird)

He is MIA right now. Yes, there is a concern. My last email(s) to the current owner have gone unanswered. Time to pick up the phone.....I will report back what I find out...(just now left a v-mail for him, at least he still has the same #)

By the way when this winds down I was hoping I could be last (as I was the first) so I could get pics of Buck with my sons again who have already changed dramatically since I did this two years ago when george gets all this back he is going to have the most popular t206 ever!

Maybe we should have stayed home; Nats lose again to the Mets 11-3. Stick a fork in them.

Well, Buck got to do a drive by the Capitol

And here's the start of the game:

Hopefully the post-game concert is better than the game. Early flight tomorrow!

I believe that good ol' Buck has been to 9 parks:
  • Safeco - Mariners
  • PNC Park (twice) - Pirates
  • Citifield - Mets
  • Citizens Bank Park - Phillies
  • Turner Field - Braves
  • Wrigley Field - Cubs
  • Nationals Stadium - Nationals
  • Fenway Park - Red Sox
  • Yankee Stadium - Yankees
Going to try to get him to his tenth this weekend; he'll be leaving the DC area on Monday for his next round of adventures...

I plan on going to the Ty Cobb museum. I believe that will be in November, so if he wants to go there, I'd be glad to take him with me.

I always enjoy reading about Large Ass Herzog's travels. While recently looking through some of my cards, I noticed I had a Large Ass Red Cobb card, didn't even know I had it.

Red Sox win 7-6. Umpiring was a little rough... Ventura got tossed. Flowers put one over the Monster.

Now on the way to NYC for White Sox-Yankees tomorrow.

No. We ducked under cover and waited out the rain delay and saw the Yanks win 9-1. Konerko hit career homer #432.

Got to see (perhaps) the first game with four 400 home run guys in the starting lineups. And watched Ichiro foul off a case of balls before flying out.

Buck will likely sleep on the train to Baltimore. After a day or two of rest, he'll be ready for travels with a new board member. If you'd like ol' LAH, send me a PM.

Looks like he had a good time. I would like to have him in Dec. when I go to the Keys to go deep sea fishing and next Dec. when I go to Cairns Australia to go fishing for big black marlin. He would have fun there since we will be staying on the boat inside the GBR at night. I wander if he knows how to scuba dive? That's in the future though so others can show him the rest of the world in the mean time.

Hey Texxx,

If you have never been to Cairns you will love it. I have been there 3 times. The last time was my honeymoon. We were married in Sydney and spent a week just north of Cairns in the town of Palm Cove. I have also been out on the GBR snorkeling 3 times. Even better than scuba diving as some of the companies give you a bit more free reign. Palm Cove and Port Douglas were where they filmed the movie 'Fools Gold' with Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey. They were filming while we were there. Outback Steakhouse has nothing on the real thing.
