Why would there be a revenue stamp on a tobacco insert?

Can someone post a picture of a graded B18?

I'd like to see how it looks.

It might be the adhesive strip that attached the blanket to the pack of Egyptienne Straights Cigarettes. ????

I have seen quite a few that have residue or remnants of the strip. I think Lipsets book has a good picture of an "unopened" package if I remember right,........ not near my books right now.

I have one that has a piece of that blue and white paper tape on it. The best photo of one with the tape is is Mr. Lipset's fine Encyclopedia.

I agree, why would a tax stamp be on there? I think that if a stamp is on there, it was added by someone after original distribution.

Alright...curiosity got the best of me and I dug it out. Sorry the image isn't real good, but the family was asleep and I had to use the cel camera

It isn't really a tax stamp...but it is a "production" stamp. It reads: Factory No. 2153, 3rd. Dist, State of New York.

The blanket still looks great and I am pretty sure the sticker has been on there since back in the day. I have no idea why it hasn't caused discernible discoloration to the blanket, but it is minor at worst.

I have probably had this nearly 20 years if not more.

Default B-18

At least some B-18 blankets were attached to the outside of a cigarette pack. The paper strip was holding it in place, back in the day. I don't think they hurt the value, since they are as originally made.

Thanks for the photo. That isn't a revenue / tax stamp.

It is the paper tape that was used to hold it folded with the product. Definitely original, a good thing to leave on there.
