Default Faking Southern Leaguers?

How common is it for people to fake SLers on eBay?

http://cgi.ebay.com/Lot-2-T-206-Bill...#ht_802wt_1139

There seems to be so much wrong with this listing:

1.) Who the hell is Corfe Mullen? I'm assuming he means George (Charles).
2.) Neither Bradley nor Mullen are Southern Leaguers, yet they have the Old Mill SL back.
3.) The scans are poor and the text looks off.

Is it common to put fake SL backs on real commons? Or is this just a horrible reproduction effort both front and back? Or is there something I am missing?

They may not be a shady seller. Judging from their other items, and history, I just don't think they know any better. Always be weary of the clueless.

Default Already contacted seller

Saw this listing over the weekend and contacted the seller. He just sent back a message (note that the seller id implies a pawn shop):

"Thanks I will pull these and find out what there - 970fullhousepawn"

I've messaged the seller, letting him know that those 2 cards arent' authentic. We'll see if he ends the auction. And I agree, he may well not have known.

David, I think you got it. I'm very weary of the clueless (and aware that sometimes I'm the one who's clueless).

Bidding has ended on the item. He kept true to his word . Seems he just wasn't sure what he had, which is fair given the guy runs a pawn shop where he deals with thousands of different items.

Default Not all bad eggs

Even though it seems like there are thousands of cheats and scoundrels out there, that doesn't mean everyone. I agree that this guy just had no idea what he had... in his eyes they looked like the other ones on Ebay. I commend him for pulling the auction. Not many of the sellers I contact remove the item voluntarily.

I wonder how bad he was taken by his pawn shop customer?
