Can you tell us where or how you make these copies? I'm thinking this is the way to go.

The way i think about it is that no one is going to know the real original color, so as long as it is close enough and looks good, I'll use it. When i get home later, I'll take a picture of some of the other tests printings that did not make the cut. Also, for most of the paper items, like checks/3x5s, i use plain paper for the final frame as glossy and matte photo paper make the items look like photos and not originals. So if I were to copy a photo I would use glossy or matt, depending on the look that I want?
