No emails will be sent, from new board registration, as that part of the registration process broke after about the first 100 registrants.....

The new board is very slow sometimes and we are working on that.

I just changed some settings internally to try to help. Check it out and let me know if you are still having an issue. You might have to login again for the BST but you shouldn't.....I will only be around the computer about 20 more minutes until this evening.....regards

Leon,

What ever you do - DON'T take ANYTHING that we have to say about the new website SERIOUSLY. You probably feel a HUGE burden on your shoulders everytime the site farts and people say (however nicely) that it STINKS. These are growing pains and you'll be dealing with them for a while so DON'T stress out over all the crap you're going to be dealing with and again, don't take ANYTHING that people have to say about the new website in a bad way. Now that I prefaced this thread, can you say/spell:

MOLASSES

Look, I put a SMILEY FACE here, look, it's here.....

[linked image]

What ever you do Leon, don't let the new site take away your sense of humor... things like this is why people pull out their hair happy.gif

Hey Fred - nice post. We are aware of the speed issue and it will not be tolerated. I had wanted to work on the issue some today, but the individual who has access to the database credentials is away and I can't fix too much without them.

Is the new board completely down? I'm not getting it to load at all?

FWIW, I think the transition of the board itself has been incredibly smooth considering how much history and how many people there were to xfer over. I think people making comments are just pointing it out, not being antagonistic about it.

And Leon/Dan/Brian have cleaned up a ton of the minor issues too - I would have thought just the avatars would take a week since the problem wasn't affecting everyone the same way. Nice, guys. Obviously there should only be very limited access to programming areas, and I don't think anyone here really expects those few individuals to be available for all of a holiday weekend.

Keep up the good work - it's going great.

J

The board was working OK this morning (slowly), but during the last couple of hours it won't come up at all. Easter Sunday isn't a good day to expect quick fixes since many people are doing family things. Hopefully the problems will be worked out tomorrow.

I do like the new board much better than the old one. One thing that I noticed is that even though my log in info is correct and my user name shows up next to my post, my user name doesn't show up in the members list.

Rick

I can get on it now Rick, but am getting the hang ups. I had responded above to say exactly what you said - that people don't necessarily expect Brian, Leon and Dan to be available all holiday weekend for quick fixes. Just based on what I've seen this weekend on the issues already raised - most of them fixed quickly - I figure it won't take long once the holiday is past and the mods put their heads together with it.

I responded b/c it seemed like Matt took offense to Fred's post. Not sure why - as far as I know, there haven't been any complaints about the chat area which was the part Matt worked on, so speed and other programming issues would not be directed at him.

happy.gif Onward and upward.

Yes, I was out of town all day and just got back in. I also just posted on the new board. The page only took about 2 minutes to load. We absoluely KNOW that this issue is a SHOW STOPPER. It will be fixed as fast as humanly possible and I would absolutely hope it will be tomorrow. I can scream pretty loud and we actually paid the Software mfg to load the application to start with so I am pretty sure they will get us some support quickly. I don't take any of this personally. Folks have a right to not be happy that it's so slow. I am not happy about it..... We will get there and look back at this as a learning lesson...take care

ps...there are no confirmation emails sent after registration...that part of the process seemed to break early on...you should still be able to use the new board without the email...though it's frustrating it's so slow
regards

Shoot. Bummer you guys. Unless you have a particular firewall issue, I bet the new host is on a portal/socket or whatever that your workplaces have on the "insecure" and blocked list.

I have the problem in reverse trying to get on my work email from school. Apparently my company uses or goes through a 1442/1444 portal (socket? I can't remember which term they used) and the IT department at school has this on their blocked list for their wireless.

And it is a switch that is thrown on the your end, so to speak. Meaning that from the Lansing campus I could never get onto my work email. Then when the Grand Rapids campus was first hooked to wireless I could get on it. Then when the school IT dept got the GR campus final configuration in, I couldn't get on from anywhere. The school that provided the access set the block, not work or me or my software or anything like that.

I bet that's what's up here, but I hope not. That would mean that the control is at work, and I suspect it would be hard to get your IT to throw that switch so you can visit a card forum. sad.gif(

FWIW, when I get blocked at school, it doesn't give me any kind of pop-up message that a firewall or anything else like that is kicking in. It simply refuses to load the page and I get the standard browser message for a page that won't load.

Joann

That's good - that means your company allows you to access our server and that you are allowed to see vBulletin sites. My best guess right now is that because the site is new-ish, it hasn't yet been added to the list of safe sites and therefore you can't yet see it. The good news (if I'm right) is that once the web spider visits the site, it will automatically get added to the "safe list" and you'll be able to have access, so this should just be temporary (of course I could be very very wrong). When that will happen would have to do with how often the spider goes out into the web looking for new sites.

Jeff,

I think it took your IT guys about 2 years to embrace the technology of the Iphones, so I wouldn't hold out great hope for a quick solution here. I'd look for a mobile solution.
