Default Pennant Collectors: 1912 World Series

One of my favorite Conlon images.

This Conlon photo was taken during the 1912 World Series between the Giants and the Red Sox. I found the image on John Rogers' site, but unfortunately, they have cropped out a very interesting part: At the top left of the original Conlon image, there is a guy selling a pennant to a fan - he has at least one for each team. You can find the full image, which shows the pennants, in the Conlon coffee table book (I don't have it scanned).

Yeah, great photo...still McGraw, but this time with his pals Wilbert and Matty.

How much do you think those pennants in that shape would sell for now?

I don't know, but my mouth watered when I spotted them in the photo. It would be tough to go back in time to that game - you'd be collecting ticket stubs off the ground, buying all the pennants. You'd be so busy collecting memorabilia, you would miss the game.

I would be very distracted as well. You would see me next to the pennant seller photobombing Conlon's shot. I would then take a picture of Charles taking a picture of me. Fantastic idea!
