Robert Edward Auction Lot #913 Ed Delahanty - Is this possible?

Does anyone know if Ed Delahanty ever spelled his last name "Delehanty" with an "e" instead of the first "a" in his last name? In the current Robert Edward auction lot #913 is an Ed Delahanty handwritten and signed letter where it is signed "Delehanty". I have never seen his signature this way. It includes a letter from PSA.

I am aware of Roger Maris first coming into the majors as "Maras" and changing the spelling of his name to "Maris". Is this a similar case? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Below is a link to the auction. Thanks.

Very interesting however. My father and my uncle spelled their last names differently - one with an "i" and one with a "y". Not sure when they split.

H&B archives and may have sold in one of the Hunts auctions at the Louisville Slugger museum. Not 100% on that one though....

I had a handwritten letter from Jack Glasscock. While obviously not an idiot, he admitted that he wasn't educated and that he left home as a teenager to be a ball player. His grammar and punctuation were so bad he put periods in the middle of sentences! I would expect that Glasscock's writing skills were near the extreme, but most of the 1800s players' educations and blue collar backgrounds were similar to his.
