Did anyone see the Heisman Trophy, supposed Heisman that is, that closed on eBay last Sunday November 11, 2007?

What does this have to do with vintage baseball cards? We do have a memorabilia part of the board but this isn't it... Not trying to be mean but we do try to keep some order amongst the chaos....Nothing personal either....best regards

Unfortunately you sort of picked the wrong place again . I know there are so many facets to the board it's hard to keep up but let me try to guide you a bit. Where you posted this (now) is in the Buy Sell Trade section....those sections are for ...well...buying, selling, and trading, stuff.....the 2 icons at the top of this page both have places this could go...It could go in the Football card forum (sort of) which is under the Post War cards tab at top...but most appropriately it would go in the memorabilia section...which is under that tab. Those guys over there are very mellow compared to this side and always appreciate good threads, finds, and neat stuff.....Once again, no worries and thanks for hanging in there .....best regards

Lets leave it for now as a learning lesson for other newer folks...This board has so many lurkers and new people on it all of the time it's good to leave some stuff up to help navigate board etiquette etc....take care

So what's the link for the trophy auction? Interest have been piqued. There is a vintage memorabilia forum linked at the top. Would be on topic there.

Even though he posted in the wrong section it is good to see Carlton here. He is an expert in many areas of memorabilia and will be a great addition to the memorabilia forum.

I wanted to say hello to you at the Cleveland national, but somehow missed you.

In the auction, the guy on the right is the artist who made the original plaster cast for the Hesiman Trophy way back when. He's pictured with his original cast which was sold by 2005 Sotheby's sale. The pics are from this sale. The trophy cast was consigned by the artist's family and the 'found in attic/mystery how it got there' eBay story is bogus. You couldn't get any genuine Heisman Trophy for under $200,000. Bruce Smith's 1941 trophy recently sold for about $400,000. A broken off leg might sell for $9,600.

Hey thank you all for a warm welcome. I figure I'll go ahead and post a comment event hough I still haven't figured this all out yet. This is what happens when a country bumpkin wanders into the big city LOL

Thank you for the kind words Dan, I hope I can measure up.

Clint, I'm so glad you enjoy my site, it's very good to hear as really, mostly I get "what's my uncle's bat worth" form emails and not enough of what people think of the site and/or direction of what my readers want.

Alan, It would've been a pleasure to have met you at the National...I look forward to seeing you at some point!

This all started when Bert Wright emailed me to learn about a bronze baseball statue
http://www.network54.com/Forum/567138/thread/1194498357/last-1194885108/1880s+Statue
That's how I got involved.

To Davidcycleback: I'm not really sure if I'm suppose to discuss the Heisman here...I did post it on another forum...somewhere....I'm just not sure exactly where!!!....but anyway there is quite a bit to the story, as I scrutinized the seller as best I could by email and phone. I'll be glad to elaborate, but I guess Leon wants Heisman chatter on a different frequency...when I figure out where I moved the post to we can continue....bye for now

Hi Carlton,
I hadn't read your well thought out response on the Net54 Memorabilia Forum until now....Wow...That compares to a Joe G. type response . (Joe is one of our resident experts on Old Judge baseball cards....) Sorry if I messed ya' up on the technicalities of the site. As Dan B said...just follow that link back over there, to the memorabilia side when you are aready, and you will be fine. There is a tab at the top of the page too, that says "Net54 Memorabilia Forum"...thanks again for sharing your knowledge....regards

Hey Leon, Thanks for your kind words on my input. No problem on the forum mixup. One correction I should note....I stated I go involved here when Bert Wright emailed me, but actually it was my friend Mike Hovet who first linked me to this. See ya around, best -Carlton
