Default Legit seller but.....1920 W card pricing

Looks like a legit seller but why would you put that kind of price on a 20 dollar card? I guess I just don't understand the philosophy behind it?

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1920-W519-R...from=R40&rt=nc
.

As you know you see that all over ebay. And cards sit there for years. I was just looking at a Griffey card priced at 400 -- looked it up and the last one a week ago sold for 43.

You would have to be a Rube (or at least related to Rube) to purchase this card at that price.

Got an email saying it's the only known W519 with Decalco advertising. It isn't but I guess that would be some sort of reason.

Hoping for a sucker? A slightly more respectable version of the people who put up a T206 Wagner reprint with a $50 BIN?

If it were the only W519 with this advertising then how would you be able to decipher that it says Decalco? The printing is cut off. You can make out Hoboken NJ though. Maybe some rich Hoboken cat will snap this card up to donate to the local museum.

Thats what it looks like to me. It appears to be getting worse every month.

Between the shill bidding and the overpriced BIN pricing, eBay is not what it once was for me. It's a shame, as years ago, there was a greater selection of vintage cards.

It's this way with photos too. A $20-30 pic gets listed BIN for $700. Or a photo worth a couple hundred gets listed at a couple thousand. Just trying to rip the piss out of somebody.

If that was true, why didn't the seller put that in the description?

The email was, I think, from only an interested 3rd party. I didn't realize it when I posted earlier. So I am not sure the seller even knows about Decalco which makes it more absurd. That said those type cards have gone down over the years a little bit. I used to own the card in the auction and many years ago I paid $100 dollars for it. It might be worth 35-50 today.....I wouldn't pay the high end of that but maybe the low end today, 35.

It's definitely not the only W519 with the Decalco Litho wording on it. There is no reason this card should be priced this high. It's just phishing for an uninformed buyer.

Maybe he mistakenly put the price for a straight 9 on the listing? Or that while it received an A grade he's looked at it under glass and it's not trimmed or otherwise altered? And that it's the best A graded card ever?
