Default Submitting a Beckett to PSA

I bought a card that was graded by Beckett and was considering sending it to PSA. How does that work? Should I crack the card from the Beckett case? If I don’t, Will PSA look at it differently? Will they just grade it equal to how Beckett did?

When in doubt, crack it out.

You could crack it out and submit raw, but you should consider a crossover submission first.

A crossover submission is one where you send it in the Beckett holder and tell PSA what the minimum grade you'll allow them to put it in their holder at. If it gets that number or higher (and supposedly the graders do not know your min grade until they've given it their own), they crack the card out and put it in the PSA holder with its new grade.

If it doesn't meet the grade (either by detection of alteration/sheet cut or just not achieving the same grade), they return it in the BGS holder.

You should also read the other threads on this board about PSA and BGS.

I would not expect many Beckett graded cards to cross over at the same grade.

Haha, bonus points for the rhyme. Is there a reason why having a doubt means you should crack it out? Is there precedence of PSA not respecting graded cards from other companies?

Here are some other threads:

If PSA thinks something is sheet cut (not factory cut) or minsize, those are some of the most common reasons for cards not to cross. However, PSA seems to suck at actually detecting them on raw cards.

Good luck with it. I'm sure they'll be happy to take your money and tell you that the Beckett Card is inferior.

They are so good at detecting altered and trimmed cards. The recently uncovered examples likely represent less than 1% of bad cards in PSA Holders.

Why not just remove your card from the Beckett Holder, and enjoy looking at it with no bar code or other unnecessary distractions.

I've successfully crossed over cards at the same grade. I would skip sending anything that has sub grades unless all of the subs are ar or above the grade you're hoping to get.

With all the shit that's going on, why would you bother to submit to either company?

I started this thread to gain more information on the topic. I found myself asking whether it'd be a good idea, and I wasn't sure. I then thought to pose it here because where else am I going to find the best opinions on a topic such as this? It isn't settled that I'm going to do it and it doesn't seem like it makes sense.

Its a 9 MINT / 10 AUTO and I bought it as a potential flip. I might be better served to resubmit to try and get the all important .5 grade increase. For those who have done such things, would it be worth it (meaning, how likely are they to increase the grade) to resubmit to Beckett for a possible grade increase?

I am about to send a BVG 1 card to PSA and am going to leave it in it's holder.
I like BVG more but they just don't bring the money due to their marketing. It is an expensive enough card to do it, even at the 1 level. SGC was my second choice but they don't want to grade it as they say they don't know about it, I guess.

Leon, you might want to hold off on doing that. Things could be changing pretty soon.

Highly unlikely they change anything.
