Default Interesting shilling episode that worked out anyway (for now)

Posted By: warshawlaw

Check out ebay item # 6150291914. I suspect shilling, but with a twist.

There were 30 bids, most of them by a 1 feedback bidder who (surprise) achieved his 1 from the same seller (who had a 3 when the auction started and a 75% feedback but has now vaulted to a 5 and 87.5%) on a gas mask. He progresively bid by small increments about 20x, obviously looking for the top of the then-high bidder's bid (no one who'd want the cards wastes all that time raising the ante by minimum increments). The "joke" was on these shillers, however, because the cards they were selling are quite rare and went to a legit buyer (I know him) who sniped to grab the lot and if the cards show up and are real got a great deal on them (the Sullivan alone is worth nearly the price of the lot). I stayed out of it because I was concerned about ever seeing the cards, as did several other advanced boxing collectors I know.

Just goes to show how imperative it is to use a sniping service.

Let us know if the cards actually arrive. What would be the safest way for the buyer to pay that would allow recourse should this not be on the level?

Would be safest.

The seller is in my state, so I would be fairly confident that if he/she screwed me I would have an easy time of it in court.
