A few years ago an ungraded Ruth, probably lower than a 5 in grade, sold for around $3,000 in a MastroNet auction. At the time, the card was very obscure, with I think 3 known examples. The card is better known today, if still obscure.

A couple of pieces of advice:

1.) Get the card graded. A card that might grade a 5 or a 6 might also grade a 1 or a 2.

2.) Consign it to a major auction house. There is no way to know the Market Value of a card that rare. If it is in a major auction, you will find out what it is worth.

I beleive the Fredereick Fotos are real photo cards and it should not be difficult to identify any counterfeits. The large set, consisting mostly of minor leaguers, I beleive was made by a photography studio and each card has a small genuine photograph affixed to a larger cardboard backing. Real photographs have no dot or other printed pattern, even under strong magnification, while most to all counterfeits will have a printed dot or similar pattern.
