Default Opinion On Lenox Back

Because I am not sure, looking for expertise on black or brown back on this item. I believe it to be black, looking for comments.

Thanks for any feedback.

Only certain T206 guys can have brown LENOX backs.

Hoping there is a good luck story behind this card. Sure looks brown! Ditto on Ted's question.

Oh wow! You should send it to PSA if you can.

Is that a picture or a scan? In your image it does look like it could be brown but the lighting can play a role in that if it is a picture and too bright. Do you have any other T206 brands that are either black or brown in color where you can compare them side by side?

Who is on the front?

You have a shot and I am so rooting for you Either way a Lenox is lovely. Good luck and thank you for sharing!

Derek

It looks brown, but I wonder if it results from an overly bright scan. It seems much more brown than the card that I have here at home. The shade of brown should be as dark as the caption on the front of the card. Please show us more scans of both the front and the back.

Awesome card. Love the corners and how amazingly even they are worn. Also how even the wear is down the sides of the card. There is a ton of paper lint in the scan too. I am going to say this card is rebacked/fake and probably has a HOF or someone tougher on the front to add value. Also going to say its a Black Lenox with a bright scan to blame for the color change. Just my observation

Corners do appear to be eerily similar rounding.
lower left corner looks a bit fishy as well as the left side of the card.
Interested to see who is on the front...

The OP has asked me to delete this whole thread multiple times. I asked for an explanation as I told him we don't delete threads unless there is some extraordinary issue and it is extremely rare we do it. No response as to why he wants it deleted.

Default Additional Lenox Photo, Front & Back

Since I threw this out there, and am a little ignorant with being new to the group, I thought I now would show both the front and back of the card in question. My only intention was to get some feedback but in hindsight I should have done some more research prior to asking the group for an opinion. After having posted the back, I read some research from Ted Z and began to realize that the front/back combination does not appear to exist. This would have given me the answer if I had done some due diligence. Also, my request to Leon to delete this was due to not only my ignorance but as some have mentioned, maybe the way I took the picture, could give the card a brown look, maybe even with the red background. I have no intention to sell this card either way, just trying to understand what I had or didn't have. Thanks everyone for your consideration and I will be more diligent the next time.

No harm no foul. No need to apologize in my opinion.
You posted a front and back and learned where to find the information you needed. I think I speak for many when I say that we are all learning here. Thanks for sticking with it and showing a front and back picture. This can be a skeptical group, but only because many have seen questionable cards over the years. Just my 2 cents

You are just fine. It still looks brown to me but I am sort of black-green-brown color recognition deficient. The only time we stop learning is when we stop altogether (as in stick a fork in me, I am done).

So what's the verdict? Is this a real Black Lenox Tinker? Or a fake Brown Lenox Tinker?

It's probably a Black Lenox. Doesn't look too suspicious to me personally. If the OP would take a pic/scan of the back next to a Tolstoi or Old Mill back, we could easily see if it's brown or black.

I'm no expert, but your scanner doesn't seem to pick up the color black very well.

Looks like it's black. Kind of figured it was a pic/scan issue.

These were actually photos I took, not scans. But I would be inclined to agree with you about the lack of black. The curious part is the threads on the red bag are black and come across as black.

With all due respect, PSA does not have a great track record diagnosing brown backs (see my Brown OM, which was original mis-diagnosed and sold for $50 on ebay, and the "Brown Old Mill" on ebay now, which is not a Brown OM but PSA flip says it is).
