What are everyone's views on HOFer prices at this point? It seems to me that you are minimally in for $1,000 to hope to acquire a HOFer in presentable (good or better) shape.

I bought a SGC 40 Monte Ward retired version for $3,012 on EBay about seven months ago. I believe I WAY overpaid for this one. Two weeks later I paid a total of $2200 for a Monte Ward SGC 50 2B version in a MastroNet auction. I think this second purchase is a more realistic view of actual pricing.

Edited to say: I just checked and I believe both these purchases were in August... so a little more recent than seven months ago as stated above.

Adam,
I've been tracking these for quite some time and can shed some light here. Email me when you have a chance.

Mayos are tough to begin with. A few years back it would have been a little easier to work on that set, now it's out of reach for the casual collector on a limited budget. There's always AUTH and 1's that might be a little more affordable.

prices for hofs and commons have shot thru the roof the past six months. early last year you could pick up a nice vg common for around 400. good luck with that now. with hof's it depends on the player since some are significantly harder to acquire then others but start the bidding at 1000 for a sgc 10 hof and go from there

Is the SGC30 Brouthers in December the same one that was sold in November? If so, it lost $300 in a month.
