Brock, it's a 1953 Schenectady Blue Jays team signed ball. I can see Turk Farrell, Bob Conley and Ed Waytula. There are no big sigs on the ball, but still a nice find for an Eastern League collector.

Just keep in mind that the Farrell on this ball looks rather odd--stilted--some clearer scans might help matters. The best name on this ball, if he's on there, is a guy named Danny Schell, who saw limited activity with the Phillies in the early 1950's, and died in 1972. Nothing to quit your job over, but certainly worth more than the $15 investment.

I'll take better photos of the turk later. So even in the minor's they could have had clubhouse people sign balls. Also Jodi i do see a Danny Schell but he signed it Dan Schell.

Doubtful that in the minor leagues they would have had a "clubhouse boy" signing baseballs. Farrell was young then and a person's signature can change over time. Mickey Mantle's certainly did.

I have encountered many instances of this occurring in the minors on balls, team sheets and photos. Many cases actually had nothing to do with a player's popularity or status on the club.

Strange to see that I would think on a ball from the 1950s where minor leaguers were not really hounded like they are these days, but I guess anything is possible...perhaps just one guy signing for another because he was busy with something at the time?? Who knows?
