Default New member...hello all!

Hey there everyone! Just wanted to quickly introduce myself. My name is Dan, I'm 38 years old and have been collecting vintage cards for about the last 5 years. I do not collect sets, never have...even in my youth, but instead focus mainly on HOF singles and RC's. I started off in the "Golden Age" of the 50's and have been able to add mid-grade copies of most major RC's highlighted by a 1951 Bowman Mantle in SGC 55, a 1951 Bowman Mays in PSA 6, and Topps RC's of Banks, Aaron, and Clemente all in SGC 60.

In the last year or so, I started dabbling in Pre-War and Tobacco cards and have been able to add a few cards of note including a T206 Cobb "Bat Off" in SGC 45, an E102 "Set of 25" Nap Lajoie in PSA 4.5, and a 1933 Goudey Lou Gehrig in SGC 50. I have found this forum very useful as a lurker, so I'm certainly looking forward to learning from you all, participating in discussions, and hopefully making some deals both buying and selling once I get settled in.

Dan. That sounds kind made up.

Just kidding. Jeez, calm down everyone. Just trying to provide this place with some family entertainment.

That's just artistically embellished. It's known as class. You may have heard of the word.

That or I spell it in the original Viking letters.

You mean cl@ss? Yeah, my HS baseball coach used to preach it and I'll never forget it. Actually "class, not ass" was the way he phrased it...which I found particularly classy.

Dan,

Welcome to the best site on the entire Internet.

Just my opinion, of course; however, I truly mean it. Enjoy!

Best Regards,

Eric

Here's my top reasons:
1) I don't have the patience
2) I'd rather have the top cards in a larger variety of sets across eras
3) I'd rather focus the time and money I put into the hobby on key cards rather than commons
4) I enjoy displaying my cards and being able to pick them up and look at them, so storing complete sets in cardboard boxes has always been unappealing to me

So, in summary, different strokes I suppose...there's no right or wrong way to collect

If your wife is like most of ours she will roll her eyes and walk in the other room. But she will also be happy you aren't getting into anything worse.
