With 39 bid retractions grandslam500 is back on. What is wrong with Ebay. He is bidding on another 45 items. Anybody want to bet on how many more bid retractions we will see? Rob http://cgi3.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?MfcISAPICommand=ViewBidItems&userid=grandslam500&completed=0&sort=3&all=1&rows=25

Is he the guy who wouldn't send you the money he owed you for winning, and then left you the same horrible feedback? Every time? And there was NOTHING you could do about it?

Until EBay banned him...I thought...

Hi All, The guys name is Jeff. I spoke with him last night. I did an ebay check that sends a notification to both parties. He called me and I expressed my concern about the bid retractions. He explained to me that he had immediate bills in the $1000 range that had to be taken care of, therefore he could not pay for the cards he put the bids in on. He was suspended by ebay and is just allowed back on. he seemed very interested and had some knowledge on vintage cards. I also refered him to the board so we might hear from him.

Just my experience

OK so they let people like this stay on and now he is bidding on another 91 items which is fine but he has 3 more bid retractions in the last 7 days. Now whats the excuse for those 3?

He sent me an email asking that I take him off my blocked sender's list. I told him it was because of the bid retractions and he explained that his brother had done it and he promised there would be no more bid retractions. So I un-blocked him.

So it could be his brother fooling around again or more immediate bills. Or he is just playing games with ebay. All he does is raise the prices of items. All I know is if he is bidding on an item I will leave it alone. Rob

He has told Lee one excuse: "I had $1000 in bills I had to pay, so I retracted my bids."

He has told Scott a completely different story: "It was my brother who did it."

Whenever suspects used to do this, while being asked questions about criminal activity they were suspected of, this "change in story" was usually what we called a "lie". And EVERY TIME, it meant they were hiding something, usually criminal or unethical behavior.

This guy is not telling the truth. He is playing games at eBayers' expense. Put him back on your block list and don't let him play anymore.

We already know the eBay isn't going to do a damm thing to folks like this (ie: the Broadway Rick's shill bidding example, among others...) so the onus is upon us to exclude this person from playing.

Game Over.

he has retracted bids on in the last week; otherwise, I have to assume he was being honest with me - I can't find any recent bid retractions. Thanks.

Not to defend the guy too much but he did win that auction and had a legtimate excuse for the retraction. His feedback has gone up from 3 since he has started bidding again. Is there another auction with a retraction, Robert?

He begged to be taken off my blocked sender's list on November 1 and retracted the bid on this item on November 2. I would really like to give this guy a swift kick in the ass.

but in his long-winded explanation on November 1, he told me that one of his retractions was due to typing in the wrong amount. Curiously, he then made the same mistake the next day on the item Robert provided the link for. Until he learns to type (or play fair), he doesn't need to be causing ebay sellers and buyers unecessary grief. Good riddance to him.

That's enough evidence for me, shout he even retracted early bids that were not going to win anyways.

I find it interesting that he nibbles to find the high bid and once he hits it, and runs the risk of having to buy the card, he retracts. Maybe he is just addicted to the thrill of bidding and panics when he is high bidder and might actually have to buy a card.

He emailed me on Nov. 1, begging to be allowed to bid on my t206 Tinker portrait because he really needed it for his collection. I noticed later that he was bidding on another t206 Tinker portrait as well. I think, in addition to the nibbling, he also tries to win multiple copies of the same item and then retracts bids on all but one copy.

Knowing that I would use you as a "negative barometer" (ala Dustin Hoffman in "Little Big Man"), you tried to defend grandslam500 so I would cancel his bids, thus giving you the "lead".

You've out-thunk me again you weasel!

I just got a response from GS500 - the guy claims to be an awful typist...For those days when I'm looking for entertainment and it's hard to come by, I file the really really goober emails in a "weirdos" folder - it's very therapeutic.

Don't worry, nothing saved from board members...except one or two from Brian Daniels.
