Makes me want to send the kid a few more Bryant cards. Remember when collecting was that simple and pure?

This video should be inserted randomly in every contentious thread.

That was pretty cool. I remember being almost that excited as a kid when I found a griffey card in a pack.

Felt the same way about getting a Reggie or a Munson back in '77.

Funny...I would right the EXACT same sentence just put in a 79 for 77. That was cool...

Thanks for posting, brought a tear to my wife's eye and great memories of that pure love of the hobby from my childhood...

Very cool vid!

It brings back memories when I was a kid and collecting hockey cards. Esso gas stations gave out small stickers that you placed in a hockey book with all the teams.

I remember constantly bugging Dad asking him if he needed gas almost daily.

He was good about it but of course one doesn't need to buy gas daily but he would fill small gas cans occasionally, and occasionally ask/bug the attendant for more booklets.

Come to think of it, I still have that book.

Brings back memories from the mid 70's trying to complete the set fot that year.As my want list shrank I would go to the toy store....inthe back where they sold rack packs.Would take my list and go through them all front and back.I wish I could have those 1975 ...or any of the 70's racks back.

If anyone reaches out and finds contact info for this kid and his brother I would love to send them something.

Adding -

Actually I found his father on Twitter: https://twitter.com/lhillenmeyer

I do not have a twitter, nor do I want one. Does one of you with a tendency toward "tweeting" wish to reach out for the group?

Still surprised that the Cubs did not jump on this for a PR bonanza yet.

i stuck it in a thread before this one was started and quite honestly am a little saddened that after this thread was started, hours ago even, that there are only 4 other replies!
Yeah, Bob, I saw that and thought it was awesome. Should have given you credit for the inspiration. That video could be like the "Rick Roll" of the card collecting community, randomly appearing any time things get too heavy to remind us we're just talking about baseball players on cardboard.

Awesome video. I have tried to get my boy's interested in baseball card collecting but have not had much success. Would give anything for a reaction like that!

Default Love it!

One of the best feelings in the world, to open a pack of cards and get a card of your favorite player. Takes me way, way, way back, but I can remember how it feels!
