I saw both of them but im not a serious bidder on either, just watching them to get a market idea on price. I have both of them and the Demmitt wouldnt be an upgrade and the price the o'hara is gonna go for is a little out of my price range, plus the one i have isnt that bad anyway....still need another 100 or so for the set,so im not gonna worry about upgrades like that for awhile.....christmas is coming up soon, time to think about what everyone is giving me,so if anyone wants my t206 wantlist, ill send it to them

I believe Polar Bear tobacco was loose tobacco, either for chewing or rolling your own. So the tobacco came into direct contact with the cards and stained them. Most other brands were cigarettes, and the cigarette paper helped protect the cards.

Indeed it is because the Polar Bear cards were inserted into bags of loose tobacco. Thus, the cards were in contact with the tobacco for periods of time and would absorb the tobacco oils. I wonder if this loose packing would also contribute to the general overall condition of Polar Bear backed cards being lower than say Piedmont backed cards?
