Default eBay keeps overreaching again and again

Listed an item for sale a few nights ago with a Buy it Now price. Decided not to take offers as the last few times it was listed the offers were stupid low. And I lowered it anyway. As I'm finalizing the re-listing I see some note like "If you item doesn't sell at a fixed price and it's automatically relisted we may decide to modify it to accept offers"?

Huh? I know this is a minor gripe in the big picture of collecting, but screw them. Who are they to change the terms of my auction to suit their needs?

It's their football. If you don't like their rules find another game.

I find it odd they would change your listing like that. Seems kind of crazy to me and I wouldn't like it. As said, find another way to sell. Our BST areas are good, they don't get their listings changed and it's free. True, it's a smaller audience, but there is no risk at all as each member sets their parameters. Ebay has some crazy rules sometimes. AH's won't change their rules either. Once you sign the contract it's done, as far as that goes.

If you relisted and they decided to change your listing to accept offers I would end the auction immediately and start a new auction. Many years ago I found a work around to their games. If you have a listing that has ended and you do not wish to relist that item (sold privately, decided to keep) you can modify that listing by changing to a new item which circumvents their listing fee charge. Not the most honest way, but since you are allowed to change your listings it works. I have not sold in a few years due to time constraints so I am not sure if you can still do this.
