Posted By: Lee Behrens

Hi All

Can someone tell me why this lot went so high through respectable bidders.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1818684732&r=0&t=0&showTutorial=0&ed=1018530889&indexURL=0&rd=1

I also have my 57 Topps set minus Mantle set for for sale $2500, the price is firm. If anyone is interested please contact me.

Thanks

Lee

This can best be explained by you T206 guys but could it be because the Sweeney is the version missing the red ink?

I've seen the Chappelle in distinct red and orange versions (also Ganzel). Is either of them considered a rarity? Wouldn't think so--

The Sweeney is another matter.... I was wondering why the lot had taken off the way it did too.

The Chappelee is just an interesting color variation, if you look closely, you'll also notice that the Kling is colored differently as well. Not rarities per se, but would probably fetch a decent premium. The highlight of the auction was obviously the Sweeney. I'm sure it's been debated many times, but it is merely missing the red ink layer that would have created to B as well as the other red colored areas to be found on the card. But, it's obviously still in demand. I was up at 6am this morning myself trying to snag it.

I didnt notice the Kling card till you said it,but the Chappelle was easy to spot because it was right next to the sweeney which i saw when the first day they were up.Now looking over the rest of the cards i noticed the vive lindaman card is just like the sweeney, boston player missing the red, which makes 4 cards in the lot missing red. I dont know why people think 2 are more valuable then the other 2 when all 4 are basically missing color....Makes me wonder where these cards came from, hard to believe someone could have 4 cards like that and 2 hall of famers in such a small lot but was stupid enough to paste them down to matboard? Doesnt make much sense
