Default February Pickups

Surprised that a February Pickup thread hadn't been started, so here we go:

Picked up a nice looking Red Dooin T206 off of eBay from Brad P., and a Real Picture Post Card of a young catcher.

Jason, that is one gorgeous T210! Not that I have any, but I love looking at high-grade T210s that don't have all the chipping along the red borders that mine have.

A good start of the month .....

netfebpu.jpg

Got to highlight spit baller Bugs Raymond. A tragic alcoholic. The only one that could somewhat contain him was McGraw. That ended when McGraw sent him to warm up in bullpen one game, and Raymond went to a bar instead !!! Bugs was dead at 30 from brain hemorrhages suffered from many bar fights.

Two great quotes on Raymond:

"That man took seven years off my life." -- John McGraw

"They used to say he didn't spit on the ball; he blew his breath on it and the ball came up drunk." -- Rube Marquard

Fun stuff, Scott

T202 Hassan Triple Folders (Cards were delivered in a plain white envelope with just a sheet of paper folded around them!)
1) Jake Stahl Guarding First with Eddie Cicotte, Stahl (mostly skinned back)
2) Davy Jones' Great Slide with Delahanty, Jones (mostly skinned back)
3) The Athletic Infield with Krause, Thomas (mostly skinned back)
4) Chance Beats Out a Hit with McIntyre, Archer (complete back)
5) Chase Safe at Third with Baker, Barry (mostly skinned back)

I also grabbed this Sullivan from the board:

Had been looking for a PSA 3 for over a year. Strangely there doesn't seem to be too many of these for sale relative to other grades. Last one sold in Jan of 2016. Was happy to pick it up for the price.

Default 1910 Ostdiek Obak with "No Paste Used" back

Picked this nice 1910 Ostdiek Obak with a "No Paste Used" back in the recent Sterling Sports Auction. Had as 1911 Ostdiek but not the 1910. The back is a new back for me as well. I have 22 different backs in the 1910 set from just collecting catchers.

Thanks Lee!

Default Beautiful Miller 1910 Obak

Whaler,

Nice pickup on the Miller 1910 Obak.

We haven't seen a picture of your hoard of Miller Obaks in a while. For new members, you might want to let them know that you are related to the player.

Congrats!

Very nice. My only Obak (a 1911) is an SGC 3. Very underappreciated set in my opinion.
