Some really great stuff on display in this thread.

It is time to enhance this Wagner extravaganza with this "baby".....

Or just a poor quality scan. Wasn't sure if Ted owns it or not.

Of course not, Mike.

I took a picture of it several years ago and what I have posted is a scan of that picture.

Ted, wasn't sure, just thought I'd ask.

I was at the Halper/Sotheby's sale 20 years ago (wow, time flies), and I think it went for around $85k then.

Chris- I love that 1915 Wagner premium, great image of him.

Not sure I've seen another example of this J=K Wagner...the headless Wagner.

That headless Wagner is wild, and I especially love how they put the card in a smaller gasket, as if that was the normal size of the card..

Such great cards in this thread. Jeff L., that "Two of a Kind" PC with Ty and Honus is great - and so tough to find.

I don't own many Honus cards but somehow I can post one that hasn't been up yet -

Side question - has anyone ever seen a Honus Virginia Extra?

Really enjoy seeing the awesome variety of Honus Wagner cards in this thread. Here is another postcard for the virtual collection, from the 1908 American League Publishing set. I love that this postcard combines a great batting pose along with Horner's famous portrait of Wagner.

The "Pat Herbst, Cigars" overprint is the only one that I have ever seen. I guess that it can be considered a tobacco card. LOL

Some truly amazing cards/pieces here indeed- a virtual museum of Mr. Wagner. Let’s keep it rolling. Cut a deal and a check on this but not yet in hand, so I will post it here but reserve a second posting for May pickups when appropriate.

that's a toughie! whats the pop on that???? at this rate you will have to eventually add a t206 to your growing wags rarity collection!!!! or maybe t206 is too common!!!!

Thanks Pete! I do want a T206 Wagner and that is my ultimate goal (not sure I am ready for it yet, however). In the meantime, I will acquire what I can, and try to continue to build out a cool Wagner collection.

Regarding the Newsboy, there are two graded Wagners -- a PSA 3 and this SGC 3 - based on pop reports and I am not sure if they are the same card. PSA has only graded 23 total Newsboys. I am not sure about SGC, but I have to imagine its at least that many and likely double. My guess is there are 50-70 graded and your guess is as good as mine on ungraded. As you know, they were handed out only in 1911 and only in Baltimore to boys that delivered the Baltimore News newspaper. The goals was to collect the whole set (I think same as E94) and to turn them in for a $1.

Ryan - love the M131 Newsboy Wagner. These cards are so rare and do not always get the credit that they deserve.

There is another SGC 3 out there too. It is sort of an SGC graded near set (missing 2).

Very nice cards Pete and Brian. And that Wagner auto is awesome.

Here is the e92+ Wagner back run I am working on. Thanks to Patrick for putting the picture together like this, and thanks to many board members for helping with several of these cards.

I love the back run, especially as it is presented in this pic. Really nice - and hard to find all those cards! That's some accomplishment!

One of these Orange Border Wagner cards was shown previously in this thread, but that was so 4 years ago, and it didn't have jagged borders like this one.

As usual really great items. Those cigar bands are cool as hell. Don`t have much to contribute but here`s a couple Honus items from the collection.

Love the way this thread starts. The W600 Wagner in the Burdick catalog is definitely one of the cards that drew many collectors to the hobby. Such a beautiful card. Thank everyone for sharing such a wonderful assortment of Wagners!

Type 1 of Honus rubbing down a 1912 model "spit ball bat". Prior to his 1947 season as a coach.

Apologies for the poorly taken image.

Without any…let me rephrase…with very few tobacco cards issued of the Flying Dutchman, you can see that this thread is much more devoid of cards versus the Ty Cobb thread.

I would think that the dearth of cards available of Hans probably accounts for his relatively higher prices. I know that Wagner is a glaring hole in my “rookie” collection. I’m still holding out for an affordable NCP or M101-1.
