Default Lou Gehrig item help?

Hello everyone,

Not exactly sure what this is so I thought I would ask the audience!

It does not seem to be an exhibit card, the stock is thinner and the card measures 3 13/16"W x 5 1/8" L.

It has a creamy white blank back and other than the verbiage on front, there is no other printing - so no help there..

The verbiage by Lou's stats make this somewhere mid to late 1938 season.

Can anyone identify this?

Thanks in advance!

I've been through the Gehrig list of cards many times. This is not a recognized card. Maybe a promotional piece? Cool piece.

+1. Are you fairly sure it's period to the 1930s?

It seems to be period, but not sure, hence this thread.

I did see the original image on both Getty images and SI.com but it is not dated (its also cropped to top half, you have to click on it for full image)...also can't find a watermark and printing seems to be period dots which you can see along the calves...smells kind of old..

What's weird is that the stats are from late 1937..

Need to find my loupe..
