Nice finds Dan. Any idea of the players or location for the top one? I dig that image.

Just acquired this RPPC and it is an instant period favorite. It is likely from the late teens or twenties. Anyone have more information on it? I wonder whose hands those future Louisville Sluggers ended up in!

That particular line of postcards is generally known as Morgan Stationary or Red Belt cards. The location is The Palace Of The Fans in Cincinnati. I’m not sure the players have ever been identified on this particular card.

Great Cubs on Catalina card. I have a few snapshots from their training there as well.

This is probably my favorite thread on n54...

Like that double fold Leon.

Finished my set yesterday after basically 6 years of kicking the idea around and finally taking the plunge. I love the images on the cards as they just aren't used very often throughout the hobby. Some of the earlier photos used on cards and its the image used to make Cobbs CJ and a couple others. The Cobb/Wagner card's image is of them shaking hands prior to the 1909 WS that Wagner lost as Cobb never experienced a World Series win. This was my first card bought at the 2012 National and the first time I really had to explain to my wife about the money. Eventually I got to 21/25 and sat there for months. In the last 6 weeks though they just came to me. First a pm out of nowhere from a n54 member that says he has one and then the deal for the Plank...fukin Plank. Card 24 was from Kevin Struss in the Matty and then the WaJo yesterday in a nice person-person trade at a McDonalds that had a transistor blow up while we were there.

+1 - fantastic collection of cards there, sir!

Oh, and regarding Leon's postcard, I was actually thinking about this the other day...why do we call them "double fold" postcards when there's only one fold??

I’ve always called them bi-fold for two panels and tri-fold for three.

Default One for the hobby Historians

I've had this wonderful Real Photo Postcard of Engel Stadium in my collection for years, looks like they are either setting up or removing a boxing ring from the stadium. Anyway the card was sent from Wirt Gammons to Buck Barker, Wirt was looking for some Mother's Cookie Cards.

Jeff, I've seen 6 postcards from the same series. They were all copied out of the 1910 Spalding Guide. Has yours been mailed to? I think its an added bonus having the stamp with the date on the back. Cool item and thanks for showing,

Mike,

I pm'd you recently, but never heard back from you. The Burke I got in REA, but the Horseshoe card I bought off of Jeff L. after he upgraded his (the REA example). Respond to your pm's!

Doc, that is fantastic.

I'm really interested in late 19th - early 20th Century PCs from the Evansville, IN area. Lots of great players came out of the region, especially Edd Roush. Any ideas on where I could find some of these, especially pre-rookie Roush PCs? I think I've been the under bidder to Olberman on a number of these.

A cool PC from Recreation Park in San Francisco where the author discusses his shoddy address and the skills of the "much-abused postal authorities" as well as mentioning his days at the park (seat marked with an X on the front).

I absolutely love that picture. I didn’t know they used it to make an RPPC. Now I’ll have to keep an eye out for one of those.

Peter, great Thorpe pick up. I had my eye on that one on ebay from Finland, just didn't pull the trigger. Congrats.

It was priced way too high but he was quite flexible, people complain all the time about crazy BINs but sometimes sellers do act reasonably when you approach them politely.
