There was an old post with comparison photos long ago that I'm unable to locate... Recent dump of these on EbaY, beware.

Often times, the photo image within the border is larger and lacks clarity.

Good call...I saw quite a few of these on ebay the last few days. They are indeed fake. I have handled numerous fake ones and even more real ones. Generally the paper "feel" and look is the giveaway. Only experienced collectors should buy these raw AND with a guarantee of legitmacy.....regards

There is a 98% chance this is fake too....Another good seller that just doesn't know.....

while this is a "lesser quality paper", real one below (as opposed to the really nice quality paper ones with very sharp photos.).. ....note the clarity differences in the picture.....fake = poor quality ....real = much better quality

there are some other prewar issues that have distinct paper stock variations, primarily strips and smaller regional issue. So not every stock variation = a counterfeit but you do have to be very, very careful with these.

If I wasn't clear I meant that both of the less quality paper stock varieties have distinctly different quality photos. One is blurry and the other is much more sharp....and both are on the poor quality paper stock. Some of the Fro-Joys are much harder to tell...in fact, so hard that most grading companies won't grade Fro-Joys anymore....regards

To make it even more confusing, the Babe Ruth Candy Co. cards were printed on more than one type of paper. I believe that they were printed intwo different cities (Cleveland and San Francisco) which may explain the different paper types. I have also seen many fakes of these cards and they are normally of poor quality, but could certainly fool someone not familiar with the set.
