The Met used to have really great scans available, sadly they now restrict them because of "rights restrictions" which seems odd for stuff that went off copyright a long time ago.
It used to just be the star cards, now it looks like it's everything.

The Met's stuff was great if you could find it in the past, but the search engine hooked up to the Burdick Collection (whatever percentage of it was scanned, anyway) was horrible. I'd type in "1953 Topps" and get shown pictures of prewar cards.

I guess it could have been worse...you could have instead been shown pictures of 1988 Topps cards.
