Default 1948 Exhibits - Murray Weir ... does it exist?

I've seen 5 basketball cards from this set but just realized there is a Murray Weir on the checklist but have never seen it.

Has anyone got his card or was it never issued?

- Andy Phillip
- Bob Cook
- Bobby McDermott
- George Mikan
- Joe Fulks
- Murray Weir ??

More than one Year. The set was 49-49 made up of BAA players. The program was 2 years later 50-51. Andy was still with the Warriors in the NBA.

Are you referring to the checklist on TCDB? I have never seen a 1948 Exhibit card of Murray Weir and tend to think that checklist is in error, but I certainly could be wrong as I'm not an expert on Exhibits cards (although I am an avid collector of vintage, oddball basketball cards). There is a Murray Weir in the 1948 Topps Magic photo set, maybe that's where the mistake (assuming it is one) came from?

FWIW, I do not have a Weir card on my checklists in my Exhibit book.

Well there you have it, if “Exhibitman” doesn’t have it on his checklist then it doesn’t exist haha.

Hi Drew,

For many years, the Exhibit Murray Weir rumor was discussed among long time collectors. However consensus is that it does not exist.

Thanks,
Pat

Exhibit book? was this an official album or something that was collected with the cards?

I suspected it was an error in TCDB, but it's good to get it confirmed by those in the know.
