Nice job Adam. Getting one on order today. Will save me time from going to your website for reference and asking Scott and Bob questions all the time. Lol

I found an online coupon to use on Lulu. Use FWD15 when checking out, for an additional 15% off

Great job Adam. This book should help clear up a lot of questions in the hobby about this complex subject.

Ordered. If it helps half as much as America's Great Boxing Cards it will be well worth it.

Barring unusual conditions I should be at the National with books. I'll be at Al's table (Love of the Game), or more accurately, my briefcase and candy wrappers will be there because I will be all over the floor looking for cards as usual.

I just bought one and thanks for the discount code it worked. Now If I could only figure out all the actors actresses and cowboys, I would be set!

Adam

Read on a long flight today. Really enjoyed it. Answered a bunch of questions that have vexed me for a while. My Not Use in Exhibit Machine card is in fact an Exhibits card. Who knew. Will use going forward many times I’m sure. Nice job.

Yes, there are some fringe benefits to an Exhibit card collection...

Just got the book in today. Learned something within minutes of going through it. So instead of thinking the 1926-29 series postcard backs were from that period is wrong. 1925-31 is the correct time period.

I knew the Silhouette cards were rare but what I didnt know is that a blank back card most likely was printed as a short print from 1925. So....if this is the case, the 1925 exhibit Gehrig rookie has company with even a more rare issue of he Silhouette.

The one thing I was unclear on was what timeframe the card would be, if it had the "This Side For Correspondence" on the reverse? Would there be a chance its 1925 or 26 on those as well?

I have never seen a Gehrig blank back or 'correspondence' no USA back. The 'correspondence' without the Made in USA is definitely the earliest printed back in the set. I think it could be 1925 too but also may slop over to 1926; I am not sure. Woody Scharf may be right with his Set 81 analysis; I will try to dig out and scan the info he sent me on that subject. He wrote of firsthand knowledge of the 1925 issue date.

I received my copy yesterday - great book Adam! I highly recommend it.

One a side note, it was nice to see these guys get their own section (rather than just being lumped in with the 1922 Eastern Exhibits).

Some corrections (thanks to Fred McKie for eagle-eyed reading):

Page 64: The Pafko C on cap is the easier variation. The "no C" light background version that dates to 1959 is the tougher version.

Page 65: The Lombardi projection variation. Here is a picture:

The center and right cards.

Page 67: The Doby AEC card should read "a 1949 or 1950 card"; the 1940 was a typo.

Page 68: The Satchel Paige without the AEC: here is a picture:

Page 69: The Pittsburgh Post Gazette back has been seen with two different sportswriters on them. They are also known in a Champions card (Mikan). Another rando brand advertising is Bomba Chiclets from Puerto Rico.

Hope these help.

I got sucked into the Exhibit world with the Salutation exhibits.

The book has me intrigued. I know there's no way to confirm the year that an actual physical card was produced, but I also know there were only certain cards produced in any given year. I think I read somewhere that 32 different cards were made each year.

In the book, have you been able to determine what cards were produced in a given year, in say 1942?
