Default Team set collectors for T206

I know there is a thread in the post war section for team set collectors, I kind of skimmed through I didn't see one for prewar or specifically geared towards T206.

Lots of set collectors for T206, for those going for the whole set. How about team set collectors for a specific team.

I noticed checklists are available online which consist of 20 to 25 cards for a specific team for T206. Is there any users who just collect the one team, or who are working on one team, and which team are you working on?

I know others have expressed how difficult chasing after 524 100-year-old cards, so I guess team set collecting makes it an easier task.

That's how I started, with collecting every Yankee player, then I moved to backs......tread carefully....it's dangerously addictive.

Have been gradually throwing together a beaterish Giants sub-set. Still need three, none of them difficult. Will finish it one of these days.

That's how I collect T206's. I started out by working on a White Sox team set. After I finished that, I decided to take on the master team set.

Right now, I'm about at the halfway point with 144 out of 304 confirmed front/back combinations. I doubt that I'll ever finish it, but it will be fun to try!

David, I love that Donlin fielding. It's a really tough one to find in EX condition.

I had only a passing interest in T206 until I found this site. See link in my signature for my Detroit Tiger set. Need 2 more, Cobb (Green and bat on).

Since I have other pursuits I'm a low grade T206 collector. I do not believe I'll chase any other T206s unless I find some money.

Cleveland has 25 cards. I'm currently at 21 different backs. Tough to get all 25 different.

I started out building a Cleveland team set myself with as many different backs as possible.

Gave up and tried something easier, like putting a T206 set together.

Do you have an Easterly with a Tolstoi back?

No master set for me. Just looking for as many different backs as possible for a 25 card team set. Too many P150/SC150 type cards to expand much past my current number of 21. Saw that Easterley CB back last fall @ Goodwin, but didn't want to part with my AB350 Easterley (only AB). Last card added was an upgrade - Rhoades Cycle 350.
My lineup:

I am a Yankee collector, and try to put Yankee team sets together from all sets.

I have put the T206 Yankee team together, worrying about the pictures on the front only, i dont care whats on the back.

I have 28 different fronts of T206 Yankees, and as far as I know, unless there are some rare obscure variations that i dont know about, thats the full Yankee team set.

I'm assuming you aren't counting the Doyle variation as a separate card.

You are ABSOLUTELY CORRECT SIR!! As Ed McMahon would have said to Johhny. That NOT in my collection or in what i consider a Yankee team set!!

I'm currently building a Cincinnati T206 team set in VG to VGEX. I just have 4 more to go. I feel like building a team set is definitely the way to go if you're just starting out collecting T206...especially if you're from a city that doesn't have a team with the Big Four

And thanks to all the Net54 members who have sold me their Cincy cards in my small quest to complete the set.

I'm working on the Detroit Tigers set. Knocked out 20 so far. The toughest ones I have left are the Cobb green, and the Mullin horizontal.

Default T206 Teams

When I first started collecting T206s I just bought whatever I could get ahold of. It was fun, but I found myself with multiple copies of the same card and decided I needed to start a checklist and refine my searches and purchases.

I did the Indianapolis team set, since that's close to where I grew up in North-central Indiana. It has only five players, but I believe I have 42 total Indy cards. The distribution is not equal, however, as I have over 20 Jack Hayden cards and only three Paul Davidson cards. The degrees of condition vary greatly, but I pretty much buy them in any condition whenever I see them at card shows. No idea why (so much for refining my purchases...).

I then moved on to the Chicago White Sox team set (my favorite childhood team) and am now working on the Boston Nat'l set (my current team).

It provides an interesting challenge and a way to stay somewhat focused instead of just buying in the scattered, unorganized manner that I was doing it before.

My team set was pretty easy to finish seeing how Richmond only has two players.I am about to go for the other Virginia League teams in Old Mill G/VG range.

T206 St. Louis Cardinal (sans O' Hara) was completed roughly a year ago. I love collecting only Cardinal cards as it keeps things more manageable. New to the forum...Thanks for all of the information that I've been able to glean from conversations between individuals much more knowledgable than myself.

Just scratched the surface on starting a St.Louis Browns T206 team subset (haven't really heard that team mentioned) Also, continuing to pick up some big name low grade HOF's as well.

So far I think I've got 3 Browns and 2 pending out of 22.
Much more attainable goal than 522 cards lol.
