Default What's the rarest Pre-War card you've seen on Ebay in the last year?

Posted By: Adam J. Baxter

After watching these two auctions close on Ebay this week, It got me thinking about what the rarest Pre-War card is that I've seen auctioned on Ebay within the last year. Unless I've missed something, (and I probably have), my vote goes with the Just So Boyd. How about the rest of you guys?

Just So Tobacco F. W. Boyd -

I picked up a 1923 Lections Frank Chance a few months ago. Unless there has been another recent find of these cards that I'm unaware of, I believe that there are less than 50 total cards known from the entire set and only 2 or 3 of the Chance.

There was the T210 Jackson that was on Ebay about a year ago. I'm not sure how serious the person was about selling it though.

Ive seen a few unique (one of a kind) cards. Mainly the 1921 Herpolshiemer (E121) cards. Ive sold 2 and seen another 2 in last couple months.

There was also a Clarks Bread (E121 style) a couple months back and vertical back Witmor Candy (E121 style) a couple days ago, which are both very rare.

There were a lot of Herpolsheimers (E121s) all sold by one seller earlier in 2006. Unfortunately I missed them all and neglected to set snipes.

Those would probably be the most rare cards I've seen on eBay.

I got the green one with Weaver a few months ago and the purple one a few years ago, both on ebay. I have probably seen 5-6 (including these 2) of these for sale, including everywhere, in the last 10 years....

Anyone have any 1 of 1 cards? Or maybe the highest grade for a particular card? I can't bring myself to list it on ebay, probably keep it for long time - 1912 Colgan's Chips Tin Tops Honus Wagner, SGC 60. PSA has only graded 4 of this entire set with highest grade 1/2 with no Wagner's. It is a slightly different issue than the Colgan's Stars of the Diamond 1909 set.

It may have been more than a year ago now, but there was an N172 California League player offered by Terry Knouse/Tik.
