Default E102 Miller; Fielding.....how rare is it?

Posted By: daryle

I am new to this forum and have a lot of questions. I have collected vintage cards since the late 80s but just haven't found many others in my area that collect vintage. I was reading on old post (3-22-06; @ 2:51PM E90-1) and saw that someone listed the E102 Miller, fielding card in a post. I know that in Lipset's book he stated that in 1984 there was only 1 known at the book's publishing. Just how rare is it? How many here have the card? What would one bring at auction in lets say Poor condition? Is the Standard Catalog even close to the actual value?, etc,etc........BTW, after reading all the posts about the E90-1 set, I have just about decided to start the set. I have Jax, Mitchell, Cincy and Speaker already and I know that there are many more rare ones/

I would venture to say many on this board have the card. I have owned 3 over the last 10 years. although i would say demand is still well ahead of supply, and would see spirited bidding on ebay or elsewhere. There have been a few on ebay over the last several years.

Scott

In the mid 90s, I owned one and at the same time saw two others at a single Ft Washington show. It is very rare though and I've only seen it a couple times since.

I know that B.C. Daniels has or had one. If I remember right, he picked it up on eBay a long time ago. I have also seen another one a couple years ago. Beyond that I dont know, but I have seen or heard of at least 2 on eBay in last 7 years or so, and I dont activly collect that set, but know of the variation.

I sold three in the last three years. I bought one on teletrade I think came from Scott B for $65 and one on e-bay for $127! Wayne Justl has the one I paid $65 for but he got it from the person I sold it to some time ago. Not that rare but rare is relative. lots of commons in E-card sets (generic)that are tougher to find.Try locating commons for E-105's! You can find Cy Young and Lajoie but try finding a Dooin!
