Default 1969 MLBPA/MLB 3" Player Pins?

I am seeking information or a lead to resource information about the1969 MLBPA and MLB issue of 3" player pins. There is a lot of information about the smaller 7/8" pins, but, I can't find anything on the large 3" pins. I would like to know how they were distributed, how many different players are represented (size of set), etc. Some players have a color photo version and a black/white photo version (Yazstremski, Tony Conigliaro and Ernie Banks are examples). How many players have both black/white and color? It is known that the 7/8" pins have a set of 60, 30 american league, 30 national league. I was unable to upload a photo. Thanks for any help I can get. Mike

Default pins

Hi Mike,
This is going to be hard to read but they are listed in the lagre sports collectors digest . Standard catalog. there are 69 pins but the subjects can come in black and white or color. I dont believe the checklist is complete as I know others have surfaced as of late. if you cut the number in half its about 35 subjects with mantle being the most expensive. Hope it helps a little. Al

Here is Lou Brock..... I did not know about the color variations. Also, the Kelly's pin says 1969 MLBPA on the side

Hello,
I have 58 different and haven't compared mine to the guide but will assume that I've got a few here that aren't listed?

like I had said I dont think that this checklist is anywhere near complete yet as we all know (or at least I do) that pins dont really get the attention that cards do . Yes would be nice to try and checklist all the mlbpa 3 1/4 size pins.

I have been trying to complete just the Cubs for many years. Have the following:

Banks B/W, Banks color, Banks 2.5 in, Williams B/W, Santo B/W, Santo color, Jenkins B/W, Beckert B/W, Kessinger B/W, Hundley B/W, Hickman B/W, and Callison B/W. Have seen but don't have: Santo 2.5 in, Holtzman and Pepitone.

Would love to know if anyone has seen any other Cubs.

Here are a few that I either still own or have had in the past. I have found a few of the players have two different head shots and both of them are black and white. There are two different sizes. The 3 1/2 inch and the smaller about 2 inch size. I have found some players are very easy to get and others are almost impossible to find. The Twins players seem to be nearly impossible to find which is weird since they were made in Minnesota. I will say the guide is far from complete.

Default 1969 MLBPA 3" Pins

Wow. I haven't logged into net5baseball.com since posting my questions about the 1969 MLBPA 3" pins. It is good to see the great response. The photo of the 58 pins is super and I printed it for reference. From all the responses I see I have a long way to go to complete a set. I'm not even close. I think I have nearly 30 different pins. I don't know if this is acceptable, but, I would consider purchasing pins if you have dupes. I also have some dupes for trade. I can be contacted at msfin@cox.net. Thanks for your responses. Mike

I'm kind of only posting to bump this thread. Besides my 3" of McCovey, I have an identical 2.25"

Very nice Rose and McCovey buttons. The smaller ones seem to be real tough to find.

That we know of Rob. Probably are more but no one has bothered to try and catalogue them and take pics and post them so we can determine beyond a shadow of a doubt they exist! I had this talk with Don Fluckinger when I was trying to catalogue the Cameo Pepsins, they would inculde them in the book as long as I had proof I.E. a photo or scan that the pin existed not just rumored to. Since I had owned 70+ pins and about 18 I believe that were un cataloged I provided photos to them and they changed the large SCD catalogue to show that the list was expanded. LOTS OF WORK by the way!

I know for sure there are small pins of Carew and Oliva. I have been collecting Twins players from this series for a long time and have seen two Carew's and one Oliva.

There is currently a purported 1.5" Killebrew on eBay. 1.5"? That's what the seller says...

I now know the smaller versions also include Mays, Oliva, Carew and Killebrew. Killebrew just went for $102 on eBay. It was 2.25", not 1.5" as listed.

Default 1969 MLBPA 3" Pins

Ok, it's been awhile. I'm still looking for 1969 MLBPA/MLB (Rah! Rahs!) If anyone has these pins for sale I am still interested. I'm pretty new to Net54 Baseball so please don't hold that against me. Thanks, Mike
