Default On my way again

Frank, quite amazing and congratulations on your making it to the top.

Well, I have just started (or you could say resuming after many decades) thanks to my Dad.

6 (I started with almost fifty years ago)
387 (I inherited from my Dad)
1 (recent pickup)

So put me at 394.

Thanks,

Marty

While you are adjusting the numbers, I did just reach 100. Seems like it has slowed down this summer, but 100 different since Oct. of 2012 is more than I thought I would have.

Default Great thread

I have a number but I havent figured it out...

My main question to Frank is why didn't you include Ty Cobb with Ty Cobb back as part of the set? That would add just a little twist don't you think?

A whopping 2 points thus far, as I just got my first two T206 cards today.

I am sure years from now I will chuckle recollecting when the Monster first bit me, and cringe thinking about how much money it cost me.

My thanks to Doug (piedmont150) for the first two of what will be many over time.

Default Update & Special Offer

Over 36,000 cards now belong to Monster Number sets.
On the main board this thread trails only the classic thriller:

"E107 Breisch Williams Scarcity Poll"

in total number of views. And to be honest the thread
has been outviewed by the Kreindler Ooh-Aah Thread
on the other side, which we recently passed in replies though.
I've chatted with Graig several times and trust he will not find
this characterization of his thread offensive

This post is prompted though by passing that pesky MARKEL REPORT
this week and by the upcoming National.

Now for the Special Offer

For those of you, in or going to Chicago, I will be at the Net54
dinner and available to update your Monster Numbers there.
Looking forward to meeting as many folks as possible on
Friday, both at the show and the dinner.
Who knows........I may even be willing to sign a few items.

Default Back up to 2!

Hey! I'm back up to 2 now! After selling the set on Goodwin in early June (he will list remainder in next auction), I have two that were raw and came back from SGC (I pick them up at the National along with others).

I will have up for sale soon...

*T206 Addie Joss, Portrait, SC that got a 55 (Woohoo! Bought it raw thinking a 2 or 3)
* Fred Tenney, Portrait, SGC30 (bought it raw as well thinking a 4 .. oh well )

So, I am at a temporary 2 now

I'm now at 510, after buying 12 cards at the National.

As pointed out to me by Frank, my numbers were a bit off

I'm actually at 508 now.

Other than the Big-4 and O'Hara, I need 11 Southern Leaguers (collecting the SLers with Old Mill backs).

I have to give a shout-out to RunScott, as he sold me 7 SLers and a G Browne (Washington) at the National. I also picked up a Demmitt SL at the Show.

You really had a great show.

And I remember when I was completing my version. It was the Southern Leaguers that were the last piece of the puzzle for me as well. Violat was my last card. I finally got it thanks to Art Martineau.

Good luck finishing your set.

The EPDGs have gotten too rich for me, so you can remove my second set as the cards have been consigned.

How does this work if you're doing a back run for one single card? I have 6 Admiral Schlei catching now.

Drop me to 517. Did a couple of trades. I'll be back to 519 soon. Doing some upgrading.

After picking up a few more SLers, I'm now at 517.

Well, I guess I cannot complain about this week. Between the BST and the Bay, I picked up nine Monster Bits. I need only 5 Commons to knock out that segment of the set. Things will start getting more expensive from here on out, as if it hasn't been so far. According to my spreadsheet, I have spent $9270 to get this far. My updated MN is 389.9.

The latest nine:

484. Heinie Wagner (Bat On Left Shoulder) P150
320. George McQuillan (With Bat) P350
456. George Stovall (Batting) SC350-460
420. Wildfire Schulte (Front View) P150
294. Rube Marquard (Hands At Thighs) SC150
117. George Davis (Chicago) SC150
324. Chief Meyers PB
333. Herbie Moran (Providence) P350
205. Buck Herzog (New York) SC350

You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Strive to be happy.

1st entry for the Paul Goldin t206 monster number, put in at 250. Have been on a spending spree, so this is going to be drifting upward. Will update when all. My boxes are in and opened
