How else would you know it was an authentic reprint?

This is kind of pitiful. I'm going to raise it with GAI as soon as they re-open on Monday. Or Monday.

I can't remember what the deal was exactly...wasn't a big project. What I do remember is out of 400 I sent to be graded...I received ZERO 9.5 or 10s! Hey, I didn't loop the cards before sending them in, but sheesh!

The cost of vintage cards in high grade makes them unaffordable for many collectors, so reprints are a cheaper alternative
Reprints have been around since the 70's when Charlie Brooks issued some 33 Goudey reprints
But reprints never increased in value yrs ago
Go on ebay today & see what collectors are paying for reprints
Totally amazing to me the prices this krap is bringing

police17852 is a seller of reprints out of Puerto Rico, a real hotbed of collecting

He is offering a handful of higher dollar reprints every week on ebay
seems like pretty decent quality, enough to fool a novice

He is making good $$$ selling reprints, even though he advertises the fact they are reprints, check & see what he cards bring

The profits per card are enormous & you know some buyers will resell them as authentic

All reprints need to have the word REPRINT printed on cards to help prevent future fraud

I believe that is true in coins that rule is currently in effect

that would help dramatically the resale of reprints

I'm not against reprints, just I don't want to sell collectors get ripped off paying $50 & up for a 50¢ card

It is only true in coins because coins are a form of leagal tender. If you make a copy of a coin or paper money that looks identical, you will be in big legal trouble (think counterfitting). This does not apply to cards. It would be nice if the law required a stamp on the card, but it is very unlikely. When it comes to any collectible item, knock offs are a part of the scenario. Don't think for a second this is only applicable to cards.

Frankly, I don't think it's a big deal that someone wants to put a reprint in a graded holder. There are many collectors who cannot afford the real thing but do enjoy collecting cards. Some of these collectors like the way a card looks in a holder. This may be similar to someone collecting an extremely low grade T206 set and wanting to have them graded just for appearances. So it isn't shocking to me at all that people buy reprints graded for similar reasons.

At least it's blatantly labeled as a reprint.
