Default 25% Juice, Smart? or Foolish?...

Posted By: rand

Sotheby's raised the premium to 25% on lots up to $20,000. Funny thing is it really affects the regular guy (like me) more than the ones that can really afford it. The bottom line is (IMO) it really hurts the consignor, just like in the smaller Mastro auctions. As a bidder i figure the BP in with my highest price i am willing to pay, so in the end the consignor takes the hit. With the huge demand for premium lots i would think the consignors will stay away from the larger BP's since it will bite into the final sale price....any other opinions?....
