Default Collins-McCarthy blank back

Posted By: Paul

I recently purchased a Collins-McCarthy card of Harry Heilmann on ebay. At least, the front is a Collins-McCarthy. The back is blank. It is definitely not skinned, just a blank back. I know cards with Collins-McCarthy fronts come with a variety of backs, including Standard Biscuit and Boston Store. But I've never heard of a blank back before. Have any of you heard of a blank back variety of this set? Is there an actual set of these, or is it just a printing error, like a blank back Topps card?

Nice card!

I think some are blank backed like the M101-5 and 4s; nobody advertised on them.

Anybody know what they're talking about on this subject better than I do? It wouldn't be hard...

Julie is exactly right. Blank back Collins McCarthy type cards are just like blank back Sporting News cards---cards that didn't get advertising. BTW, if you would like to trade/sell the Heilmann it is the last card a friend of mine needs to finish the set. Andy Baran--you should appreciate this--I sold my set to this fellow and it was complete except for the Heilmann I sold to you years ago.

Thanks---Jay (curl777@aol.com)

It's not. I can't remember where I got it ... but I got a Hornsby rookie Boston Store at the same time.

Hey Jay, I just dabble in OJ's for right now. I did not even notice they were Minn. I was buying them as they were in nice shape an NOT graded. I did not think they were going to get alot of action. To many deep pocket buyers on these right now and I will wait for a buyers market to come around again... You think I'm mean... Try to but a caramel card when Tim Sedlock wants it! LOL JC
